{"id":929,"date":"2021-08-05T11:25:58","date_gmt":"2021-08-05T11:25:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/crossmichael\/?p=929"},"modified":"2021-08-06T10:02:03","modified_gmt":"2021-08-06T10:02:03","slug":"august-2021-welcome-back-newsletter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/crossmichael\/2021\/08\/05\/august-2021-welcome-back-newsletter\/","title":{"rendered":"August 2021 &#8211; Welcome Back Newsletter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Families and Friends of Crossmichael and Gelston Primary Schools,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>I hope that you have had a wonderful summer enjoying the glorious sunshine.\u00a0 \u00a0It has been lovely to see everyone enjoying themselves as the coronavirus restrictions begin to relax even further.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Return to School and Covid-19 Health and Safety Requirements<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>When pupils return to school on Thursday 19th August, we will be continuing with the same safety measures in place as before the summer holidays.\u00a0 This includes regular hand washing and the use of hand sanitiser.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We ask that all parents wear masks on arrival and departure from school and that no adults enter the playground unless by prior appointment.\u00a0 (P1 parents are permitted to accompany their children round to the P1 entrance until they settle but unfortunately, we cannot ask you to come into the school building yet.)\u00a0 Pupils should continue to wear face masks on public transport\/ school transport.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Classes will continue to line up at their designated door and pupils will be asked to play in a designated playground area.\u00a0 Please see below for details:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>P1\/2 (Mrs Marscheider&#8217;s class) &#8211; Please play around the back of the playground from the library door round to the kitchen area.\u00a0 When the bell rings, please line up at the cloakroom entrance around the back of the school.\u00a0 P1 parents will be permitted to accompany their children into the playground as long as they wear masks and socially distance.\u00a0 Mrs Marscheider will accompany the children into class.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>P2-4 (Miss Drummond&#8217;s class) &#8211; Please play around the back of the playground from the library door round to the kitchen area.\u00a0 When the bell rings, please line up at the entrance to the portacabin.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>P4-6 (Mrs Glover&#8217;s class) &#8211; Please play around the front of the playground from the library door round to the kitchen area.\u00a0 When the bell rings, please line up at the main school office entrance.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>P6\/7 (Mrs Steven&#8217;s class) &#8211; Please play around the front of the playground from the library door round to the kitchen area.\u00a0 When the bell rings, please line up at the library entrance at the side of the school.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Bikeability Certificates<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I am delighted to announce that all previous P7 pupils passed their Bikeability training and will be receiving certificates as soon as possible.\u00a0 I apologise for the delay in getting these to our pupils and I wish them the best of luck at secondary school.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>&#8216;Smar<\/strong><strong>ties<\/strong><strong>&#8216;<\/strong><strong> Fundraiser<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>I would like to thank you all for contributing to our end of year fundraising event.\u00a0 We are delighted to announce that we have raised \u00a3747.40 by filling up Smarties tubes with coins.\u00a0 Thank you for your generous donations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Free School Meals for P1-4 from August<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_x_MsoNormal\">It was announced in June that the Scottish Government and local authority partners reached agreement to introduce universal free school lunches for primary 4 and 5 children and targeted support during school holidays for all eligible primary and secondary children and young people. (Read more\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lnks.gd\/l\/eyJhbGciOiJIUzI1NiJ9.eyJidWxsZXRpbl9saW5rX2lkIjoxMDAsInVyaSI6ImJwMjpjbGljayIsImJ1bGxldGluX2lkIjoiMjAyMTA3MjIuNDM1MzgzNTEiLCJ1cmwiOiJodHRwczovL3d3dy5nb3Yuc2NvdC9uZXdzL2ZyZWUtc2Nob29sLW1lYWxzLTEvIn0.uSl9w5nhwucL4qNJlVAkBHhARq1RpLAtKrdL8rDMnII\/s\/1233928598\/br\/109739963361-l\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"1\">Free school meals &#8211;
