{"id":836,"date":"2021-03-26T12:17:38","date_gmt":"2021-03-26T12:17:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/crossmichael\/?p=836"},"modified":"2021-03-26T12:17:52","modified_gmt":"2021-03-26T12:17:52","slug":"836","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/dg\/crossmichael\/2021\/03\/26\/836\/","title":{"rendered":"Newsletter &#8211; Friday 26th March 2021"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear Families and Friends of Crossmichael and Gelston Primary Schools,<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It has been a busy term for us all and as the Easter holidays approach, I wish pupils, parents and staff a restful holiday.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Easter Holiday Dates<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Monday 29<sup>th<\/sup> March \u2013 Friday 9<sup>th<\/sup> April.\u00a0 Pupils and staff return on Monday 12<sup>th<\/sup> April.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>\u2018Alphabet Street West\u2019 Challenge<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Active Schools are working in partnership with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, Police Scotland and Youth Work DG to launch the \u2018Alphabet Street West\u2019 challenge.\u00a0 This is a four week challenge where pupils and adults can walk around their local community following a map to find letters stuck to signs.\u00a0 All materials can be found on the \u2018Active Schools Actify\u2019 website where they can be downloaded or printed.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Weekly challenges will be set on the Alphabet Street West Facebook page.\u00a0 You can plan your route so that you can spell words as you walk to \u2018collect\u2019 each letter as you pass them.\u00a0 The aim of the challenge is to increase community morale, and to support mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.\u00a0 Look out for the first challenge \u2013 Easter themed!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>There are a set of signs in seven different towns (Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbright, Dalbeattie, New Galloway, Wigtown, Whithorn and Newton Stewart).
