This includes pre conception advice through to baby&#8217;s first birthday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Support provided:\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Perinatal Mental Health Team offers Specialised Perinatal Mental Health Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Clinical Psychology assessment and intervention to women over 18 during the perinatal period (conception to baby&#8217;s first birthday) across Dumfries and Galloway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Women who are experiencing moderate to severe mental health difficulties related to pregnancy , birth and the post birth period can access this service .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Women can access Perinatal Mental Health Nursing following assessment by the local Community Mental Health Team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Women can access assessment and intervention if appropriate by direct referral to Clinical Psychology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Occupational Therapy may be offered to women who have already been assessed&nbsp; by Perinatal Mental Health Nursing or Perinatal Psychology if appropriate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Psychology also offer Maternity and Neonatal Psychological Interventions to women who have experienced birth trauma, fear of birth, adjustment to having a child who has had neonatal care and women who have experienced baby loss.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Perinatal Mental Health Service signposts fathers\/ partners to relevant Health and Third Sector services<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Perinatal Mental Health Service works closely with Wee Minds Matter, the Infant Mental Health Team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Age range<\/strong>: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>UNDER SCHOOL AGE;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Area covered<\/strong>: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All Dumfries and Galloway<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Can an individual access the service directly, or do they need to be referred to it by another service \u2013 like a school, social worker, health practitioner for example?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Another service, for example a GP or other healthcare provider<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to make a referral: <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE (RfA);<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Top tips for making a &#8216;good&#8217; referral (if applicable):\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Provide GP, Patient Name, Chi and Address<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Include details of all services\/ named professionals involved<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Provide Estimated Day of Delivery if pregnant\/ age of baby<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information on risk\/ Risk Assessment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information on any diagnoses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information on current functioning- social, emotional, activities of daily living<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information on current medications<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Information on past mental health<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What needs to be in place before a referral is accepted (for example a Child&#8217;s Plan)?<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Email the generic email or use the Professionals Advice Line Thursdays 9-10 (01387 246246) to discuss potential referrals<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Is there a charge\/fee for this service?<\/strong>\u00a0 <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>No<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>If there is a charge\/fee, is there funding available for this? <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>N\/A<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Telephone: 01387 246246 Contact email:\u00a0 dg.perinatalmhs@nhs.scot Website:\u00a0 Perinatal Mental Health Team \u2013 Dumfries &amp; Galloway Health &amp; Social Care Address: Dept. of Psychological Services and Research\u00a0 Mental Health Outpatients\u00a0 Mountainhall Treatment Centre\u00a0 Bankend Road\u00a0 Dumfries\u00a0 DG1 4AP Who the service is aimed at:\u00a0 Our service offers support to women over the age of 18 who are in the perinatal period.
