We recognise that every child\u2019s circumstances are unique, and we offer a wide range of targeted interventions to help remove obstacles and build sustainable routines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>12-week targeted intervention, based on Themes, Individual, school, family and EBSA (Emotional school based avoidance)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We can offer support in the following areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Strengthening relationships between home and school, including mediation and restorative approaches to rebuild trust.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Family routines and parenting support, including guidance on boundaries, structure, and morning routines.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support during significant life events, such as bereavement or family separation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Anxiety and worries, including early intervention and strategies to support emotional wellbeing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EBSA (Emotionally Based School Avoidance) assessment, support strategies, and ongoing partnership with schools and families.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>P7 Attendance Workshops and guidance based on the GIRFEC framework.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Visual timetables and structured routines to support children with ASD\/ASL needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sleep routine guidance to help families establish healthy sleep patterns.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support around mobile phone and gaming boundaries, including practical strategies for home.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Emotional regulation and anger management, tailored to the child\u2019s developmental stage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bullying, peer relationship concerns, and promoting safe social connections.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understanding the value of education, helping families engage positively with school.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>School refusal, including collaborative planning and gradual reintegration.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Understanding friendships, social skills, and building confidence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Self-esteem and confidence-building, both individually and through group work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>EBSA group interventions, supporting shared experiences and resilience.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Support for social, emotional, and behavioural needs, in collaboration with school teams.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Neurodiversity awareness, including ADHD support and helping pupils understand their own profiles.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Coping strategies and resilience-building to empower young people in challenging situations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Our aim is always to work in partnership, supporting the pupil, the family, and the school, so that attendance improves through understanding, collaboration, and practical solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Age range<\/strong>: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Primary 1 to S4 pupils<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Area covered<\/strong>: <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>All Dumfries and Galloway<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Can an individual access the service directly, or do they need to be referred to it by another service \u2013 like a school, social worker, health practitioner for example? <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A referral to the Attendance Support Service should be submitted by the <strong>Named Person<\/strong> within the school. Once received, the referral will be triaged by the Team Lead to determine whether it meets the service criteria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the referral is accepted, an Attendance Officer will be allocated to work directly with the pupil, family, and school to provide targeted support and intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How to make a referral:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Submit a request for assistance form<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Top tips for making a &#8216;good&#8217; referral (if applicable):&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The referral meets the 70\u201340% criteria or highlights a significant pattern like persistent lateness.
