Who the service is aimed at:
Both targeted and all.
- Universal support via groups, classes etc.
- Targeted support for babies, mothers, families who require additional breast or bottle-feeding information or support. Staff training also available.
Support provided:
Support with breast/bottle feeding (though mainly breastfeeding support) where mother/parent requires information, general assessment support or additional specialist input for more complex challenges.
Support groups are open to all mothers/babies where some Breastfeeding/ breastmilk is/has been given. These are free to attend.
Telephone and face to face support (home visits if necessary/appropriate).
Antenatal breastfeeding workshop style classes ( daytime and evening).
Staff training.
Age range:
Infants – babies and toddlers up to 3 years old.

All Dumfries and Galloway
Can an individual access the service directly, or do they need to be referred to it by another service – like a school, social worker, health practitioner for example?
Individuals can self-refer or attend workshop style classes. Services can also refer.
How to make a referral:
Individuals can telephone or email the service. Other services can send a Request for Assistance form.
Top tips for making a ‘good’ referral (if applicable):
- Name, email and contact number of referrer
- Name, DOB, address, telephone number of mother
- Brief details of the challenges being experienced by mother/baby
- Confirmation of consent from mother/parent for referral (can be verbal)
