Children do well because they have loving relationships.
Being nurtured means things like:
- they are cared for
- they know they are loved by their family or carers
- they know they are trusted and feel like they belong
- they have someone to turn to when they feel upset
- they have a routine every day for eating, sleeping and looking after themselves – things like keeping clean and brushing teeth

A routine means doing things at the same time every day.
- they have a home:
- that is warm and clean
- where they feel safe
- where they feel that they belong
- where they can trust people
- they are always looked after by adults who can care for them properly
- they get their needs met as they change and develop
