Who the service is aimed at:
Educational Visitors assist the Education Authority to provide early intervention for children with significant additional support needs and to comply with the terms of Additional Support for Learning legislation. Needs can arise from disability or health needs, family circumstances, learning environment, social or emotional factors. This is a targeted service as identified in the Stages of Intervention.
Support provided:
Virtual Consultations are for Parents/Carers and Professionals in Education and Health. They aim to provide accessible advice about individual children or broader Nursery concerns. A virtual consultation might be a helpful first step in identifying whether a Request for Assistance to the EV service, and/or signposting to another service, is appropriate.
Virtual consultations can:
- improve understanding of a child’s needs
- inform planning
- empower staff to know what to do next
- identify strategies and interventions
- support education staff to bring about positive change for children
- support and develop knowledge and skills in specific areas of need
- support parents/carers to build capacity in their child to enable them to gain independence and take measured and calculated risk, learning in a way that is appropriate to them.
