Castle Douglas PS – Sharing Home Activities

Challenge 2 – Plastic Container

This week’s challenge is to take some plastic that will be thrown out and use it to make something useful 🙂

The Henry Family were starting their plastic challenge and looking for some sand to use when they found a frog.  Over the past few weeks the family have watched tadpoles growing and they now have legs!

K  P3/4 used a plastic bottle and a kitchen roll tube last week to make this brilliant Narwhal!

MH, P3 has been watching videos on YouTube –  rocket taking off, a couple of Tim Peake videos and another by NASA. He was intrigued and then decided to make this fantastic rocket.

W and J  used yoghurt pots to make a telephone.  They tried different lengths of string to move to different places in the house. Working out which worked the best.

A fab idea from F H P3/4 – a colourful elephant made from a plastic bottle.

Thank you Catrina, P7 for sharing your beach scene and game. The  beach reminds us of what w can look forward to when the Lockdown is over – thank you 🙂

A great game too – and if you like both chocolate and raisins then it’s a win win . A simple and fun game for other families to try and make.

I and E have been busy making plastic junk models this week.  I made some plastic object such as fish family, flower and rainbow. She also made lanterns that works in the dark very well.

E also has been making a sky tower, dorm and house. He stuck tissue and also coloured in with pens and these are also lit up in the dark.

Some great ideas to brighten up inside and outside the house – thanks for sharing!

C, P2 used his imagination to make this gun and army base!

TM has created a fishing area for his Turtles this week – wonder what the fish taste like?

You can spend a lot of money buying a commercial Water Wall. W & J have made their own – what a great idea and lots of fun learning too!

DH, P6/7 has been using Science skills to make sure his plastic ship didn’t overturn – a simple way of adding ballast – well done!
