P1a visited Littleton Farm this week.
Murray – “It was a dairy farm”
Chloe – “We got to clap the baby calves.”
Sam – “We pretended to be calves and went into calf pens.”
Katie – “He had 1500 cows.”
Ollie – “There was 2 wind turbines on the farm.”
Maxi – “There was a lot of sheds on the farm.”
Holly – “We learned what the cows ate.”
This week in P1b we have been learning all about the different jobs a farmer has to do. We received a magic key from Biff and Chip. We wrote lovely stories about our adventures with the magic key.
In P3 we have made olive wreaths. Learning to measure area and comparing Ancient and Modern Olympic games. The class has also been busy rehearsing their assembly.
In P3/4 we have had a great start on the wellie project. Thanks for all the wellies. The Water Cycle, weather forecasting were part of our topic work as well.
P4 – We have started our independent research projects on organs of the body. We are enjoying learning about how our body works. Some of us have been along to Let’s Cook sessions and made healthy food.
P4/5 enjoyed preparing, serving and clearing up their langar in the classroom to complete their Sikh topic. We have also been investigating plants this week. The pupils have enjoyed carrying out experiments. We have been looking at number patterns and sequences in Maths. Some pupils made up their own sequences.
P5/6 – We learned all about weight and measurement and have enjoyed weighing classroom objects. We wrote newspaper reports on Child Labour as part of our Child Labour campaign. We have been drawing Olympic athletes. We have learned about our identity and we have been learning and singing new songs and have enjoyed playing hockey matches.
The P7’s of the P6/7 class enjoyed a PE transition day at Castle Douglas High School. Alisha said “I really enjoyed the table tennis”. Kara said “I enjoyed making new friends”. Keiren felt nervous at the start but enjoyed it too.

P3 – Assembly Friday 27th May 9:15am
P3/4 – Pupils will need old clothes again next week to paint. We are planning to paint on Thursday morning.
P4 – We have a jam packed week next week. We look forward to welcoming a personal trainer in on Wednesday to teach us more about how exercise keeps us healthy. On Thursday, we are being visited by the Edinburgh Science Festival team for a body workshop.
P4/5 – Book fair and Pitch, Pulse & Magic Music Workshop on Monday 23rd May and Edinburgh Science Festival Workshop Thursday 26th May – Donations by Thursday please
P5/6 – Operation Safety for P6 pupils only on Friday 27th May at 8:45am and will return at 3:15pm. Can all P6 pupils please return their slips on Monday.

Community News
Open Farm Sunday – information from the McMeikan Family, Ernespie Farm.
On the 5th of June from 10am-1pm; Ernespie Farm is opening its gates to visitors as part of ‘Open Farm Sunday’. This is a free event and is your chance to visit the farm and see how your daily milk is produced.
It promises to be a fun day out with a chance to meet the animals, feed the calves, see how a cow is milked and look at various other animals. There will also be a machinery display and tractor rides around the farm.
Free samples of dairy products made from milk off the farm will also be on offer, Remember… THIS IS ALL FOR FREE !!!
Ernespie Farm is a 15 minute walk from Castle Douglas or a 2 minute drive, it’s situated up the old Military road heading towards the Haugh of Urr, the 1st Farm on the right hand side.
