Under the Children and Young People (Scotland) Act 2014<\/a>, corporate parenting refers to the shared responsibility of public bodies, including local authorities and education services, to act as a ‘parent’ for Looked After and Care Experienced children and young people. This involves prioritising their wellbeing, safeguarding their rights, and working collaboratively to improve outcomes.<\/p>\n

In schools, all staff contribute to this role, with a collective duty to ensure that care experienced learners are supported to achieve the same positive outcomes as their peers.<\/p>\n
