What Have We Been Up to?

Session 2024-2025

 

Raising £74.77 for the Children in Need charity.  Thank you for all donations on our spot themed fundraising day.

Children came dressed as the occupation they would like to be when they grown up as part of our “Big Me Day”

 

Bonfire Night: What’s a firepit without some toasty gooey marshmallows roasted over it?

As part of Scottish Careers Week we’re excited to welcome a variety of parent and community members from different occupations who will be visiting to talk to the children about their careers. Our first guest was a farmer.

Pupils wore eye patches as part of a learning activity to help them understand and experience visual disabilities.

Dumfries and Galloway Outdoor and Woodland Learning Group delivered an outdoor numeracy session showcasing fun activities that parents and carers can enjoy with their child in local parks, woods, beaches or even in their own gardens.

We had so much spooky fun at Caerlaverock from creative costumes to Halloween themed games. It was a fantastic day with just the right amount of spooky!

P4/7 were invited to visit the WWT Caerlaverock by the Crichton Carbon Centre, who also very kindly provided bus transport to attend.

Hayley from Active Schools has been in school keeping the pupils active.  Hayley, assisted by Courtney Scriven, also gave the pupils coaching in Boccia.

Our House Captains for this session are Archie – Criffel, Addison Nith and our JRSO Officer is Lucie.  Well done to P7 pupils in their new roles.

Session 2023-24

A very very busy Open Afternoon in school for parents to look at the work their

child has completed during this academic year.  The children had made 

Malteser traybake and cheesecake for their guests. Yum!

World Book Day

This year’s World Book Day was based around Alice in Wonderland with a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party lunch! Here are some of the fantastic costumes.

Dumfries and Galloway Canine Rescue Centre 21st birthday non-uniform day.  £100 was collected in school and handed to the Canine Rescue.

Visit from Crichton Carbon Centre to learn about sustainability

Ryley, Amie-Leigh, Ramsey, Ivor and Hari represented the school on Remembrance Sunday by laying the school wreath at  Caerlaverock War Memorial.  Keira and Nell also represented the school by lighting the beacon at sunset on Remembrance Sunday at the Quay End.

P1/4 enjoying an Art and Design activity

The Glencaple allotment team have kindly grown a Pumpkin Patch for the children.  Today was harvest day and the children and staff went over to the allotments to help bring the pumpkins back to school ready to decorate for Halloween.  Thank you very much Team Allotment!

P7 attended Operation Safety to learn about fire safety, water safety, road safety, online safety, food safety, electrical safety and how to deal with an unconscious person.

The pupils took their new teachers and Mrs Scriven a guided tour around the village, pointing out all the sights along the way.   They finished off with a play in the newly refurbished community playpark.
