I researched penguins and found lots of facts about them. I read some books about them and I also watched a video about them on the computer. I kept stopping the film to write down my facts. Mummy helped me spell the big words.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Explorers first called penguins &#8216;strange geese&#8217;.<\/li>\n<li>Penguins lost the ability to fly millions of years ago but their powerful flippers make them very accomplished swimmers.<\/li>\n<li>Penguins jump in the air before diving to help them swim faster.<\/li>\n<li>Penguins can swim a speeds over 10 miles per hour and they can also dive over 800 feet.<\/li>\n<li>Some extinct penguins grew to more than 5 feet tall.<\/li>\n<li>Penguins don&#8217;t have teeth. Fleshy spines inside their mouths help them swallow fish.<\/li>\n<li>A group of penguins in the water is called a raft.<\/li>\n<li>There are 8 different species of penguin and are found in a variety of countries.<\/li>\n<li>The smallest species of penguin is the little blue penguin but it is also called the little or the fairy penguin.<\/li>\n<li>Penguins are carnivores. They feed on fish, squid, crabs and other seafood.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>For expression, I coloured in a time travelling penguin in bright colours. I also finished reading Snow-White and Rose-Red which had a lovely happy ending. After classes, we went on a litter picking walk. Caspian was really pleased because we didn&#8217;t find much this time. We put all the rubbish in the bin.
