On Tuesday the 3oth of March P5/6/7 went to Castle Kennedy Gardens to compete in the Rhins Cross Country Championship and did very well. We had Fraser Sullivan who came first in the p7 boys mile and a half, Abi McKinstry who came first in the p5 girls mile, Krissie Ramsay who came second in the p6 girls mile and a half, Adele Wilkinson who came third in the girls p7 mile and a half and Jenni Brooke who came third in the girls p6 mile. We had a day of mixed weather – four seasons in one day indeed! Well done to everyone who participated.

The Rhins and Machars Badminton Competition was held on Thursday 19th March at the Douglas Ewart High School.

Erin Rankin, Nicole Cockburn, Ben Mitchell, Wilson Sloan, Fraser Sullivan and Callum Donald were our school representatives as they had achieved so highly in the Rhins competition.

Fraser and Ben won Gold in the boys’ doubles. Fraser won silver in the boys’ singles and Ben won bronze. Well done to all of you who participated. We are very proud of your achievements!

On Sunday 22nd March, Ben and Fraser travelled through to the David Keswick Centre in Dumfries for the regional competition – Wilson was unable to go.

Fraser came 4th in the boys singles there. Excellent result!

Glenluce Netball Team all worked well together and enjoyed the Rhins Schools Winter Netball League. Wilson Sloan was identified as displaying outstanding achievement by the coaches there – well done to him!

A big well done to our Rotary Quiz Team for coming 2nd on Thursday 26th March. Rebecca Torbet, Wilson Sloan, Rachael Murphy and Fraser Sullivan represented our school very well- good for you!

Wow! Were you lucky enough to see our performance of ‘ Warriors- the Emperor’s Incredible Army’ on Wednesday 25th March?! What a show- what a brilliant day! P4/5/6 and P6/7 of Glenluce Primary got together with P4-7 from Castle Kennedy and Drochduil Primaries and enjoyed a fantastic day working with four representatives from The Scottish Opera. We had learned the song words in advance with our teachers and Mrs Hart and then participated in drama workshops on Wednesday morning. We then presented our show to eager friends and family on Wednesday afternoon. A brilliant experience! Keep an eye on the Free Press for our photos!

What a talented bunch we are lucky enough to have here Glenluce Primary. Having been well taught by Mrs Calvert and Mrs Torbet, our nimble footed dance team did us proud at the Douglas Ewart High School on Tuesday 24th March. The pupils involved were Krissie Ramsay, Archie Sloan, Sophie Hall, Wilson Sloan, Rebecca Torbet, Ben Mitchell, Callum Donald and Abi McKinstry with Cameron McKie as a reserve.

Well done to Sophie and Callum for music festival success! Sophie won the trophy for Grade 2 piano solo and the vocal duet Kirkmaiden Cup along with Callum. He also won the Jack Rennie Memorial Trophy for Scots’ Song and the cup for Boys’ Vocal Solo. Brilliant!

Well done to everyone – £208.30 raised today for Comic Relief! Brilliant time had by all! I think the incentive to soak Mr Ferguson with a sponge worked well!

So there are some occasions when it is definitely a good thing to talk at school……and prose is one such occasion!

Glenluce are good at this as Wilson Sloan was awarded 2nd, Cameron Murphy 3rd and Kelci-Ann Keith 4th! Well Done!
