Why do you enjoy the Daily Mile?

It is good for my stamina- Corin

It keeps us healthy and active- Millar

It makes people feel positive- Josh

How do humans hear?

Have you ever wondered how we hear or what is inside the human ear?

P5/6 have been working in teams to research this interesting topic. They have been using reference books and websites. They are going to present their information to the rest of the class. Everyone has been very enthusiastic about this task and we have all learned many facts!

P2 Numicon Challenge

This week, as part of their play and Scottish Maths Week, the P2s in P1/2 were asked to create some large Numicon shapes to be used outdoors.  Have a look at what they came up with – great teamwork!

Maths Week

As part of Scottish Maths Week, P4 worked with P1/2 to help them with number work.  They used a variety of different resources including Numicon, cubes, number fans and whiteboards.  This has allowed P1/2 to have some 1-1 time helping them write their numbers or add and subtract.  For P4s, it allows them to share their knowledge and consolidate their own learning.  Well done!

P5/6 – Design Challenge

Which glasses would you choose? P5/6 have been designing glasses which reflect their interests.

They are responsible citizens who take on responsibilities within the class.

This week they  started learning about The Senses.

Well done everyone. You have been so busy!

Torthorwald Scarecrow Day

Well done to Primary 1/2 on creating their ‘Superhayro’ scarecrows for Torthorwald Scarecrow Day!

P5/6 Learning Community

P5/6 have had a brilliant first week back. They have worked hard on building their class team and setting up their classroom. Reece made a super welcome sign for our classroom- thank you Reece! We created a joint piece of artwork combining all of our ideas and interests which we are all really proud of. We have completed creative and design challenges as well cracking codes. Lots of people enjoyed writing coded messages for Mrs C!  Islay and Eleanor chose some photographs to share and uploaded them to the blog for us. Overall they have made a great start to the year. Well done everybody.

P6/7 RME

https://education.gov.scot/improvement/Documents/sci38-postcards.pdf

In RME today, Primary 6/7 were working on sharing their opinions on different issues. They looked at common gender stereotypes, such as, girls like pink and boys like blue. They talked about whether or not they believed them to be true giving reasons for their opinions. The class showed a good understanding of why gender equality is important. I was very impressed with their communication skills and engagement with the tasks. Well Done P6/7! Check out the link above to post cards from Education Scotland.

Welcome back!

Food!

This week P1/2 have been learning about food.  On Monday we chopped up fruit for a fruit salad, on Tuesday we made cupcakes and on Wednesday we worked on our spreading skills making toast and spreading it with butter and jam.
