Dear Parent\/Carer<\/h2>\n

You will be aware that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II will celebrate her Platinum Jubilee in June next year.<\/p>\n

The First Minister Nicola Sturgeon confirmed, along with the other nations of the United Kingdom, the movement of the late May Bank Holiday in 2022 and the introduction of a Bank Holiday to mark the celebration of Her Majesty\u2019s Platinum Jubilee on Thursday 2 June 2022.<\/p>\n

As you are aware, Dumfries and Galloway does not have a late May Bank Holiday therefore we have written to the Scottish Government to request an additional day\u2019s school closure which has now been accepted.<\/p>\n

This does mean however that, to ensure schools are closed on Thursday 2nd<\/sup>\u00a0and Friday 3rd<\/sup>\u00a0June, it has been necessary to draw a day from the forthcoming winter break, with pupils now returning on Friday 7 January instead of Monday 10 January 2022.<\/p>\n

The school term and holiday dates page on the Council\u2019s website have been updated:<\/p>\n
