Hello Primary 7 🙂 Here are the numeracy tasks for the week, as I said in the previous post you do not need to complete all tasks, simply choose the tasks that are of interest to you and remember you can also look through all of the previous posts and complete some tasks you haven’t already done or use some of the websites that have already been posted.
NUMERACY TASKS
- Â IKEA BUDGETING TASKÂ –
I would like some help designing the layout of my guest bedroom! You have £3000.00 to spend in IKEA. Use your knowledge of adding and subtracting decimal numbers and percentages to design the room, you need to buy everything from bedding to furniture. There are also some discounts that can be used on certain items.
Sketch out your ideas of what you would like the room to look like, think of how the furniture would be arranged. Look at the IKEA website for ideas and you will need to write down all of the items and prices. Here is an example of the layout you can use (if you have a printer you could print these off but this is not essential- use a jotter or bit of paper). Have fun designing! You can email me your ideas or post a picture to your blog.
2. SUMDOG COMPETITION – this starts today and finishes on Friday.  https://www.sumdog.com/user/sign_in
3. GENERATE YOUR OWN BOARD NUMBER using the Mathsbot Question Generator  https://mathsbot.com/questionGenerator
The page will look like this at the top and you can choose how many groups of questions you get. You can start with 1 group of 5-10 questions then build up to more.
Question Generator
Then select a topic from the dropdown box – for example Arithmetic: Four Operations then choose the level of difficulty (0 being the easiest and 10 being the hardest).  Then select the time limit – start with 10-15 minutes and then click on Create Questions.
4. COUNTDOWN – Can you reach the target number? The challenge is to use the numbers available and the four standard operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) to hit the target.  Each number can only be used once but it may not be necessary to use all the numbers.   https://nrich.maths.org/6499
5. MATHS CALENDARS –Please use these Maths Calendars for some revision and further challenge. You do not have to complete all of them this week! I have pasted the link below to three levels, 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
1st Level will be revision and if you have a younger sibling at home you could even teach them how to do it – remember teaching others helps us to recall 90% of what we learn!
The 2nd level is what we will have been doing in class and the 3rd level you will have done bits of, so don’t worry if you are not sure of all of the 3rd level questions.
