PRIMARY 7-HOME LEARNING W/C 8TH JUNE

Good Morning Primary 7 🙂

I hope you are all well and had a lovely weekend! This week the home learning will be posted daily – numeracy and literacy tasks will be there for you to work through, I will also post some other links to activities and websites that may be of interest to you.

Please remember just do what you can, there is absolutely no pressure to complete everything that is posted each day, some days you may do more and some days you may do less, it is what works best for you and your family.

Please also spend time this week learning the words to the leavers’ song that was shared on Teams. If you haven’t sent me a photo of yourself in P1, please can you send me a photo this week as I am putting together a slideshow. If it is easier for an adult at home to send me the photo my email is ddspaton810@glow.sch.uk. Thanks to those of you who have sent in a photo already.

I would also like to you think about any questions you have regarding transition and starting St John’s in August, email them to me as I will collect them all and pass them onto St John’s.

Have a good day!   Mrs P  🙂

PRIMARY 7 – TRANSITION

Good Morning Primary 7 🙂

Due to the lockdown, planned arrangements for supporting your transition to S1  have been disrupted significantly. We have received some information regarding transition in the form of  some videos and tasks from the schools you are going to.  The information we have received is below and I also thought it would be helpful for you all if I shared some other information about moving onto secondary school.

TASK – Whilst watching these videos you may think of some questions you have about starting secondary school – can you write these down and either post them on Teams or email them to me and hopefully we can get these sent to the high schools.

GENERATION LOCKDOWN WRITING COMPETITION

This is your opportunity to write about your experience in lock down. Until midnight on Friday the 17th of July, you can submit a piece of writing about what life has been like in lock down and during the coronavirus.

This could be a personal experience, a poem, or a creative story. All of you will have had a unique experience that is only yours, and only you can capture in words.

Your entry should be 700 words or under and you should submit in your age category (open for age 7-17).

Your work will then be read by a published author, who will then pick out the five best entries from your age group. These entries will then be included in a book published by John Catt Educational called ‘Generation Lockdown Writes.’

There will also be a range of other prizes for the winning entries, and a special celebratory book launch where you will have the opportunity to meet the authors.

For more information visit the website:  https://generationlockdown.co.uk/

If you decide to take part in this competition let me know 🙂

The page will look like this at the top and you can choose how many groups of questions you get. You can start with 1 group of 5-10 questions then build up to more.

Question Generator – 1

2. COUNTDOWN  – Can you reach the target number? The challenge is to use the numbers available and the four standard operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) to hit the target.  Each number can only be used once but it may not be necessary to use all the numbers.    https://nrich.maths.org/6499
3. MATHS CALENDARS  –Please use these June Maths Calendars for some revision and further challenge. You do not have to complete all of them this week! I have pasted the link below to three levels, 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

1st Level will be revision and if you have a younger sibling at home you could even teach them how to do it – remember teaching others helps us to recall 90% of what we learn!

The 2nd level is what we will have been doing in class and the 3rd level you will have done bits of, so don’t worry if you are not sure of all of the 3rd level questions.
