  2. Once you have read the article, create some of your own literal and inferential questions based on the article.  We have been working on these questions in class, remember literal questions are questions that come directly from the text and inferential questions involve the reader having to search for clues to answer the question.
  3. Ask someone to home to read the article and then answer your questions, or ask a classmate to answer them by commenting on this post.
  4. Watch the video ‘One Blue Sky’ that is contained in the article.

EXTRA TASK:

Think of a space in your neighbourhood that would make a good location for a mural. Sketch a design for a mural about friendship, connection, culture, or another theme. Include symbols that represent this theme. Plan which colours will bring your mural to life.  Post it on your blog once you have finished it, I would love to see them 🙂

TASK 2:  Figurative and Literal Language

In class we have been learning about literal questions, these are questions in which the answers can ‘literally’ be taken from the text/video/audio clip etc.

Language can be literal (obvious, plainly stated, communicates exactly what is meant) and figurative (suggests and infers meaning, rather than simply stating it). Learning how to use figurative language will help with your own writing and make it more interesting to the reader.

Complete the Bitesize Lesson on Figurative Language and try the activities:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/articles/zfcccqt

Then watch these clips of music videos and look out for examples of figurative language!
