Primary 6 Health and Wellbeing

This term, Primary 6 is focusing our Health and Wellbeing topic on the ‘Eatwell guide’, taking a closer look at our diets. We started off by listing as many different types of foods as we could think of that come under each heading of the ‘Eatwell Guide’. After which, we moved groups and created a menu using the ingredients we had thought of.

Primary 6 Spanish

We are very excited about learning a new language this term, and are very happy to have all of these helpful phrases up on the wall for us to choose from! We will try hard to use Spanish as often as we can, to get used to how it sounds. Small things like saying the date in Spanish, go a long way in helping our brains adjust to a new language 😊.

Primary 6 Play Champions

Last week’s P.E. lesson allowed us to use some of the games that we have been introduced to us in the Play Champions Programme, for our warm up!

This was an opportunity for the Primary 6 pupils to develop their confidence in leading play, as they explained the rules and boundaries of their chosen game, looked out the needed equipment and kept score themselves.

Games that were played were ‘swamp monster’, ‘jump the river’ and ‘chaos tig’!

Primary 6 – JLT Meeting

This Monday, our JLT members, Connor and Molly, held a meeting with Primary 6 to get their thoughts and opinions on their school. They were asked what would potentially lead them to feel unsafe in the school, and also what opportunities there are at St Ninians for them to meet and form friendships with people who share similar interests.

The children spoke highly of the clubs, staff and opportunities that their school has to offer. A very well led meeting. Well done Connor and Molly!

Primary 6 Literacy – Big Write

This term, with our main literacy focus being on our writing skills, and our class novel being ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, we thought we could combine the two!

Throughout the term, we have been working on descriptive writing, detailing what each room in Mr Wonka’s factory looked like! We are sure you will have read our collection of individual pieces in our SOS folders 🤗

We then compiled our work into a group project, creating our very own Chocolate Factories!

Here are some of us with our finished pieces.

Primary 6 Big Write

This week we showed Miss Nimmo how amazing a set of writers we are! After working on our knowledge of VCOP (Vocabulary – Connectives – Openers – Punctuation), we created our own descriptive paragraphs on the Chocolate Room. We wowed Miss Nimmo with our descriptions, with each and every one of us improving from our previous work! After describing the delicious treasures of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate room, we worked up quite an appetite… Thankfully one of our incredibly thoughtful classmates, David, saved the day by announcing that he had baked cookies for the entire class! (He had borrowed a baking book from the library and was keen to try out the cookie recipe). Thank you, David!
