Primary 6 – Fit Thursday

This term’s Fit Thursday was one of our best yet! We were joined by a numbr of coaches, who took us for dance, tennis, football and hockey. This was in addition to our Daily 15 and our walk-a-mile. We were exhausted!

We then worked on our knowledge of teamwork with Joanne, a sports coordinator who works with a number of different schools.

Primary 6 Summer Fayre Prep

This week, we have had a busy time, learning new enterprise skills. We have created various teams that are crucial for the smooth running of our business; accountancy, maintenance, chefs, management staff, waiting staff and design and marketing. We have all worked very hard in our roles and are now in the final stages of preparation for our summer fayre stall! Come along and check it out!

Primary 6 Enterprise Topic

This term, we will be taking on an enterprise topic for the school’s Summer Fayre, on the 1st June. We will be running an ‘Afternoon Tea’ stall. So far, we have worked in Literacy time on letter writing, asking for donations to our stall as well as prizes for the raffle. We have also spent time looking into what various jobs are pivotal for the running of a business.

What better way to prep for the stall and learn the business than to try a bit of ‘afternoon tea’ ourselves?! Scones with jam… Yum!

Primary 6 Well Good Workshop

Last Thursday, we were taken away from our usual lessons, to learn some very important information about smoking

We were taught a number of interesting facts about what implications smoking has for our long-term health. This tied in well with our topic about making healthy choices for our bodies. We found it very interesting to hear just how many people are hospitalised due to smoking related illnesses every year. We also found it interesting to learn about the financial implications smoking can have on people, as well as the country as a whole.

This workshop was so informative but fun, and lefts us with a lot to think about!

Primary 6 Numeracy Multiplying Decimals

This week, we came to an end of the decimals section of our Numeracy topic. We were looking at how to multiply decimal numbers by 10 and 100. This then fed into our knowledge of how we convert tenths and hundredths from fractions to decimals and vice versa. We look forward to learning about percentages next, and how to convert between all three!

Here we are breaking down our understanding of a basic question ‘2.4 x 10 =’ using concrete materials in the class.

Primary 6 Play Champions

This Thursday, we used an hour of our afternoon practising for our role as P7 Buddies next year šŸ˜ We love spending time with the Primary 1s, and this week we were lucky enough to have time with them, working on our leadership skills in games (our sole focus in the ‘Play Champs’ programme). Here we are, helping them with their P.E. focus of fitness – creating assault course for them to complete.Ā
