P5 – Battle of Stirling Bridge Animation!

We have been doing a mini project into film making and animation!

We have looked at how films are made from planning, designing sets and characters, bringing these to life, recording and finally reviewing them.  We have learned lots about this process including how long this took to do!

If you click the link here, you can watch our final films (some of us ran out of time to finish)! We are all very impressed with our efforts an hope this helps you to learn about the Battle of Stirling Bridge too!

P5 – Fit Thursday!

Before the break we had Fit Thursday!  We had a number of different activities to take part in!  We did football, boxercise, dance, fitness, flexibility and table tennis!

We had so much fun!

Mr White also let us ride the bikes!  Some of us couldn’t ride a bike before but we certainly can now! Take a look below!

P5 – Literacy!

In Literacy we have been very busy!

We have been learning about different genres.  We look at What A Good One Looks Like (WAGOLL) and then we discuss the key features of this genre and stick them to our wall.  Then we use these to create our own story in this genre!  So far we have learned about War and Horror stories.  We took a class vote to decided which genres we would like to investigate!

Once we write our stories we have been using editing stations to up-level our writing using feedback from our peers and our chief editor (Mr White).  This ensures that our final piece is as good as it can be!

We have also started our newest class novel called “The Nowhere Emporium” by Ross McKenzie.  This book is all about wonder and requires us to “bring our imagination!” We can’t wait to find out what is going to happen!

P5 – Play in the Pod Friday!

Finally after our busy Friday we got to go to Pod!

As you can tell we were a little bit tired after our festival!

We used most of this time to create Coffee Shops for a seat and a chat whilst others used this time for a little nap!

We worked very hard on Friday and deserved our little brain break before doing a little work about the Water Horse back in class!

P5 – Escape Room Challenge

This week Mr White locked us in a digital escape room.

The only way for us to escape was to find the clues using our knowledge of Scottish History which would allow us to unlock the next section using the passwords.

We had to work together to break the codes to set us free!

We managed to escape with our knowledge of Scottish History from 1912 up to the Battle of Stirling Bridge…why don’t you ask us to share some of this knowledge!

P5 – Stirling Bridge Challenge

This week we had to work as part of a team to create our version of Stirling Bridge.

We only had a certain amount of resources to do this with which required us to trade with other teams.

This let us to explore the design process which is used to create all sorts of things in the world!

We are now going to use these bridges to create an animation of what actually happened at this battle!

P5 – Note Taking and War Stories

This week in literacy we have been very busy!

We have been developing our note taking skills by taking notes about Scottish History and using these notes to teach others in the class about what we gave learned!

We have also been exploring War Stories and what key features we may find in this genre.  We have been attempting to create our own version of these now that we have explored some really good examples!

P5 – Measuring

The past few weeks we have been continuing to work on our measuring skills.

This has been through estimating, testing this through measuring and converting different units!

We like to get outside as much as possible to help with our investigation!
