Primary 4 – Thursday 28th May Literacy
Get Spelling Blue Workbook
Today I’d like you to do a reading comprehension. Remember, that’s carefully reading a passage and then answering questions. We answer the questions in sentences. We reread the correct parts of the story to find the answer. Sometimes we have to use our thinking skills to work out the answer – it doesn’t always leap out at us!
Your story is called Pugs of the Frozen North and the file can be found on the link below, at the bottom of the page and downloaded. Read the story and answer the questions in your jotter or on paper. You don’t have to print anything.

Get Spelling Red Group
Read the information for the Blue group. You are also going to do some reading and answering questions on what you have read. The file is at the bottom of the page, just download, read and answer the questions in a sentence. You don’t have to print and cut.

Primary 4 – Numeracy Wednesday 27th May
Do a Daily 10 of your choice. Don’t make it too easy though! Challenge yourself!
https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/daily10
Time to get body and mind working together: skip, bounce a ball, bounce on a trampoline, do squats, star jumps (there are lots of ideas on the sheet in your folder). Maybe you could combine this exercise with a skip count, or a times table chant? Maybe you could pick a target number, say 50, and a partner could shout out, say 17 and you have to mentally calculate how to hit the target, using whatever strategy you find easier! Counting on ,counting back, doubles, near doubles, add or subtract a 10…. the list goes on!
There’s lots of ideas, tips, games and printables about help with multiplication and division on this link.

Below is a link to a gathering and displaying data game.
Primary 4- data handling
Data handling is all about collecting, displaying and understanding information. This link will tell you more about data handling. Above you can see a bar graph which is one way of displaying information. Along the bottom (horizontal axis) we see different creatures and the other axis (vertical axis) tells us how many years they may live for. Can you see what ‘skips’ the years go up in? 20, 40, 60, 80? Working that out will help[ you work out what each smaller line is worth! If you know your tables you’ll be sorted! Give answering the questions a go.
