Today we took our numeracy outside. We had a race in teams to gather sticks, stones and pine cones, gave each item a value and then had to calculate what each individual collection was worth by writing a multiplication sentence. Working with a partner we then used dice to give us multiples and had to collect everything we needed to display the product in an array. In P4 we love to apply our skills in all sorts of different ways and what a great way to enjoy a beautiful sunny day and learn at the same time!

P4 Active Spelling
This week some of us took our group literacy outside to enjoy the beautiful autumn weather. Being outside in the fresh air, applying our skills in a different way and using natural resources all help improve our learning experience. We all felt energised, engaged and relaxed. We used chalk, water, leaves, sticks and seed cases to build our spelling words rather than writing them with pencil and paper. We then spelled our words out loud alongside some exercises to get the brain and body working in perfect harmony!
P4- Counting Sticks and Counting Skips!
We used our new counting sticks for counting in 2s 5s 10s and then challenged ourselves with the 3s! We had to pass and take a stick on the multiple of the given number whilst counting. It was pretty tricky but a great brain and body workout! We then had playground games and skipping drew quite a crowd. Even Mrs O had a go!
