We will be so excited to share our finished stories with you at parents’ night! We had planned the middle of our stories out with a comic strip, so we could really focus on the action and this week we used this to really get into our adventure. We shared our stories with a partner and gave and received feedback. We have also designed a front cover for our final copy.

Primary 4 Museum of Egyptology
We are very pleased with how our Museum of Egyptology is growing. There are many artefacts to study and more exhibits will be coming soon!
Primary 4- Egyptian Adventures ahead!
We were amazed to read the news headlines on the screen telling us we were going on an Egyptian adventure! We have started to plan out a great story that may lead us into all sorts of dangers and excitement! We have used many different skills for our story building. We have needed to plan and describe our setting, our characters, the problems we may meet and how we solve them. We need to research online and through texts to get useful facts that we can weave into our story. We need to remember the importance of vocabulary, connectives, openers and punctuation in a great piece of writing. We look forward to sharing all this with you!
Primary 4- Egyptologists at work!
Teya and Summer shared their amazing mummy with us! They had also created a canopic jar with a heart inside! Thankfully not a real one! Thank you for sharing your home learning with us.

Primary 4 – Egyptian research
This week we got into groups and we were given a topic on Ancient Egypt to research. The topics were
– the gods
– the pyramids
– King Tutankhamun and his tomb
– mummies and the afterlife
We used related websites and non fiction texts to create information posters and presented them to the class.
P4- Acrostic Amazon!
This week our literacy focus has been creating an acrostic poem with the word RAINFOREST. First we had a class discussion about relevant and interesting topic related words that could start each line of the poem. We filled a whole board with WOW words and then we wrote a poem together so we could see an example of how the words could be used. Our poetry was fantastic and really demonstrated our knowledge of the Amazon in a new and creative way.
P4 – Creating a Word Document
This week in ICT we learned how to create a Word Document. We had to-
-open Word
-choose our font and type size
-centre our title
-type document
-find a related picture from a given website and copy it
-paste picture onto document
-save document in a folder.
We really enjoyed typing up our rainforest fact file and learning these new skills at the same time.
P4 – this week in literacy and IDL
This week we were given a section of the rainforest to research at our table. We used fiction texts and the Active Wild website and created posters at our table, listing as many creatures we could find that lived there. We then shared our learning with the class and saw that many of the creatures appeared in several different layers. Next we each chose one creature to do specific research on. We focussed on habitat, appearance, diet and any other useful facts, like hunting and hiding methods. We produced a factfile which we will use next to create a Word document. We have seen the effects of deforestation and heard of the forest fires destroying this beautiful, fragile habitat. we produced a poster to raise awareness of he current state of the Amazon. Ask us what we know about the importance of the Amazon rainforest to our planet.
