Primary 4 home learning activities
Please see the blog for my previous posts on helping with multiplication tables and having number talks.
Sumdog have now launched free spelling and reading activities. This is brand new but once I get to grips with it, I should be able to set challenges in numeracy AND literacy. The children should be able to use it independently too.
Twinkl, the resource site has offered free one month Ultimate Membership for parents and carers – go to www.twinkl.co.uk/offer and enter the code UKTWINKLHELPS . Lots of ideas and inspiration, worksheets and games to print and PowerPoints to watch.
www.topmarks.co.uk is a great source of activities and games for all curricular areas. We use it regularly for maths and literacy games and challenges.
www.timestables.co.uk – another fun site for games and practice.
www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize video clips, games and activities for all curricular areas.
www.bbc.co.uk/teach/supermovers learning and being active all in one for many curricular areas.

Each child has their log in to Glow in their folder. They will be able to access the learning tiles. They can use the QR code or the school website to access the blog. I will update the blog every day possible with activities and suggestions. In order to comment on the blog posts, the children need to enter their Glow email, this is their Glow log in followed by @glow.sch.uk – for example ddtsmith192@glow.sch.uk
I would encourage your child to read as often as they can and to follow structured day as far as their learning goes. I would expect them to complete literacy, numeracy and health tasks every day, either from their pack, the online resources and/or materials/activities you can provide. The pack includes revision of work we have already done, with some extension tasks. Once a sheet is completed you could use it to devise further similar tasks.
physical activity, emotional wellbeing – Go Noodle, Yoga For The Classroom – Yoga With Adriene, Saskia’s dansschool (kids and teens section), The Body Coach TV – all on YouTube.

Some packs include irregular spelling words. Select any of these (ten a week max) to use for the spelling activities included or for simply learning and using in a sentence.
My Get Spelling Book 3 group have their workbook home. Because the books were on order and we were using other resources, children should complete any part of the first 4 units that aren’t complete, in the first week of absence. Your child should them complete one unit a week. They can use the spelling from the workbook in spelling activities or mix them up with the irregular spelling sheet. Anything is great!
The Grey Level RWI have workbook 2a of Get Spelling. I have decided to move them on but as the assessments have not taken place this may change on our return. They should still revise RWI sounds They should do one unit a week of their Spelling Workbook. Please don’t worry about whether you are doing it ‘right’ or not. Any work Is appreciated.
I would encourage all children to remember our inputs on vocabulary, connectives, openers and punctuation. Give them a dull sentence and get them to improve it, verbally or written. Encourage them to use adverbs and similes. Get them to write a story as amazing as the one they recently wrote in class, remembering the importance of good beginnings, middles and endings.
I can be contacted at the email address below.
Best Wishes to you and your family
