Primary 4 love playing I Am The Champion on the grassy playground on a sunny day!
This game encourages everyone to practise their handstand skills but pupils can also tumble, do cartwheels 🤸♀️ too.
Primary 1 pupils invited Primary 4 pupils to their classroom to share their reading books with them.
It was wonderful to see the confident readers in p1 and the praise and encouragement provided by primary 4.

Primary 4 pupils have created their own “respect” role play scripts and acted these out in front of their peers.
Pupils worked in small groups to discuss plans for their role play using the 5 Ws and 1 H, Who? What? Where? When? Why? How?
Who is involved in the scene/scenes?
What has happened/is happening?
Where is the role play taking place?
When is this happening? During/after school?
Why are people acting this way? Tiredness/Sadness/
How is the issue solved? A friend intervenes/someone tells a teacher/other adult…
P4 acted very sensibly throughout these role play scenes and they initiated lots of quality discussions about respect, empathy, kindness towards others.
Primary 4 are learning about Transport Then And Now in Dundee and as a sub-topic The Tay Rail Bridge Disaster and Bridges.
Pupils were given a design brief to build a bridge for pedestrians and traffic, crossing over a wide river and tall enough for boats to travel under. We looked at famous bridges around the world and discussed the materials used and types of bridge designs.
P4 initially worked in small groups to build a bridge then on completion they built their own bridge model. Pupils shared any difficulties they encountered and what worked well for them. We are going to use these STEM skills to help sketch a unique bridge design, incorporating ideas from famous bridges around the world.

P4 have enjoyed reinforcing their knowledge and understanding about money this term through the Toy Shop Maths Game on Topmarks.
Rosemary recently attended a sports event where she was given the opportunity to partake in a range of sports. When she arrived back at school, she was delighted to share the experiences of her day with her classmates. She confidently answered questions about the range of sports she took part in and her feelings about the day. Well done Rosemary!
Liam has worked hard this year, developing his literacy and numeracy skills through a range of activities and tasks. He has also attended Thera-pony trekking sessions at the stables and recently managed a trek around the arena unsupported. This is a massive achievement for a young boy who admits he was a little nervous when he first met the ponies. Liam showed the rest of his classmates his success book during show and tell and answered questions throughout. Well done Liam!
P4 used the Play in a Pod resources, mainly crates, wooden rods, metal sheets and carpet squares to create their own bridge structure today for pedestrians.
Pupils were given the task of creating a bridge from one area of the playground to the grassy area.
Next week, we will use tyres and cardboard cylindrical tubes to create a bridge for vehicles to cross. Watch this space…

P4 wrote their own story endings to the Spiderwick Chronicles last term and are enjoying working in groups to act out stories narrated by the pupil who wrote the ending.
