P4 have thoroughly enjoyed working with a partner in a range of VCOP (Vocabulary, Connectices, Openers and Punctuation) tasks.

Vocabulary task cards require pupils to think of who or what might respond in the following way – bellowed, shrieked, cackled, whispered, thundered etc.  Pupils work with a partner to construct sentences and write these on a whiteboard.  They then choose one sentence to read out to their classmates with the corresponding expression and intonation.

Connective and Punctuation task cards require pupils to choose the appropriate word to connect 2 sentences or the correct punctuation mark to complete a sentence, statement or question.

Opener task cards require pupils to construct a sentence using various openers, i.e. Sulking he…, Marching away she…, As the door to the castle opened… One pupil in the pairing reads out the sentence whilst the other acts the sentence out.
