Primary 3 – Play in a Pod!

We had a lovely afternoon learning about the rainforest before our time at the pod. We talked about animal habitats (where animals live) in the rainforest and had a think bout what animals might look for in a good place to live. For example, heat and shelter. Using our play in a pod time we organised ourselves into small groups and created our own rainforest habitats trying to ensure we would have heat and shelter. This is what we created…

Things became a bit more challenging when we discussed changes in the rainforest which might affect animal habitats. To demonstrate this children were asked to  trade one thing each from their teams shelter to gain a something new, completely changing their shelters.

Super teamwork primary 3, your shelters looked amazing!

Primary 3 – Symmetry!

Primary 3 took a trip outdoors last week to investigate symmetry in nature. During our morning challenges children had been creating symmetrical patterns using Numicon.

We first discussed what symmetry is and what something symmetrical would look like before heading outside. Working with a partner they were challenged to find as many symmetrical objects as they could to use in their symmetrical pictures.

After completing the first challenge primary 3 had to form bigger groups to make their pictures larger.

Finally we decided to have a go at creating symmetrical images within our groups but we were only allowed to use our bodies. Here is how we got on…

Great Work Primary 3!
