Primary 3 began to explore multiplication using arrays to work out the answers. We looked at lots of different questions on the carpet and discussed how to work these out using the array to help us before exploring the 2x table with our partners.
Well done! Â
Yesterday, in class we discussed what we could do to keep ourselves and others safe at Halloween. We came up with lots of Halloween safety top tips and decided to make an informative poster to share these tips with other people.
One of the top tips we came up with was to never carve a pumpkin without an adult. This is because we felt knives (or carving kits) were too dangerous for us to use alone. Â However we had lots of ideas for scary faces we could carve into our pumpkins!
We have had a very busy last day of term.
We attended Mass this morning before coming back to school to try out lots of different taster activities for Fit Thursday.
Primary 3 took part in a whole school ‘Run a Mile’ before lunch. Then after a well deserved break, we learned how to play Gaelic football.
Next a lady from Dundee United came to visit us to teach us how to play football and some mini ball games.
Then we went up to the ICT suite to take part in some dinosaur themed yoga! Before finally coming back downstairs to play a game of Botcha.
We had great fun today. The yoga helped us to relax after lots of running around!
Have a lovely holiday Primary 3! See you all in 2 weeks!
On Monday, primary 3 worked in groups of 4 to create their own rainforest trees using the Kapla blocks.
We had to work as a team, communicate and share ideas in order for our trees to be a success.
In ICT this term Primary 3 have been working on their researching and word processing skills. In the first few weeks of ICT we looked at Microsoft Word and how we can use this to type. We started to use this to record any interesting rainforest facts we had found out through our research.
On Thursday we decided to look at how we could add pictures to our document. Primary 3 had to find an appropriate picture of their rainforest animal and move this on to their research document. We learned how to save pictures from the internet and open them onto a word document!
We have been busy exploring our times tables this week.
We have worked hard to learn the 2, 5 and 10 times tables but this week as a challenge had to attempt to work out the 3 times table.
We used rod number tracks and Cuisenaire rods to practice and record our 5 and 10 times tables.
Next, we were given the challenge to find out our 3 times table. We used Numicon number stories to help us figure it out.
We were using Cuisenaire rods to explore number bonds to 10.
First, we used the interactive whiteboard to work out the value of each rod, then played a few games working out which 2 rods when put together were the same length as a ten rod. Next, we worked with our partners to see if there were any number combinations we had missed. Before finally answering a few number bond questions on our whiteboards using the rods to help us.
Every Friday primary 3 talk about our new learning from the week and display it on our working wall. As Friday was the last Friday at school this term we decided to talk about what we had learned throughout the whole term!
Each table looked at a different area of the curriculum. They then worked together to fill their boards with what they learned about Numeracy, Literacy, HWB and IDL.
We worked together to select what we felt was the most important thing from each area and displayed it on our working wall!
Great Work Primary 3!
While lots of our class visited the Macmillian Coffee Morning, the rest of us had some fun exploring Kapla! We looked at books for some inspiration and then had a go at creating our own models.
