Primary 3 – Week Beginning 20th April Home Learning!

Good Morning Everyone!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend.

I am missing you all lots and I can’t wait to hear all of your stories when we eventually go back to school. I am sure you will be just as excited to share these with your friends and myself too! Remember to stay positive, keep smiling and be brave, things will be back to normal soon and you will have done your best to keep yourself safe and everyone else safe at home too.

I know things are very unusual just now and it might be difficult to understand exactly why, but I found a little story which might help explain things to you!

https://interagencystandingcommittee.org/system/files/2020-04/My%20Hero%20is%20You%2C%20Storybook%20for%20Children%20on%20COVID-19.pdf

This weeks learning will be a little bit different as I am working in the Tayside Community Hub. This means it will be trickier to post as  much as usual on the blog throughout the week. I will still try to be available to answer any questions you might have and will be looking on our P3 blog to read through all of your fantastic posts.

Now its your turn to take control of your learning…

This week its up to you to decide how you are going to manage your learning.

  • Take this week to look through all of the previous home learning tasks I have posted on the blog  and complete tasks you haven’t completed already.
  • You can choose activities from your home learning packs to complete too. There are lots of activities and worksheets you might not have had the chance to look at yet.
  • READ, READ, READ! Remeber what we said… reading is the best excercise you can do for your brain! Read a book to someone else or have someone at home read to you.
  • Keep practicing your times tables too! Remember circles you have been practicing counting in 2s and your 2 times tables. Triangles and Squares we have looked at 2,3,4,5 and 10 times tables! Keep practicing!
  • Stay active! Go for your daily walk with someone at home or if you can’t get outside for a little while invent your own game and teach it to someone at home. Our Daily 15 activities are on the blog for you to do too!

Throughout the week I will post any links I think might be helpful or fun for you to do too!

Keep smiling and working hard!

Love Miss Macdonald ✨🤗

Try to tick off which parts of the success criteria you have managed to do to keep yourself on track! Here is a connective pyramid to help you. You will find the SC grid posted below 🙂

Primary 3 – Friday Home Learning Numeracy Task!

Good morning everyone, happy Friday! 🎉🌷

On your timetable today we have Numeracy, Literacy and then ‘Free Time Friday’ !

Boardsums

In class, before we came off we were working on measure. We were learning to use metres and centimetres as a unit of measurement.

Have a look at the video below to remind you how we do this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tuBLuIW1U70

Circles

Begin by playing this game on level 1. This will help you work out the length of objects by measuring in cms against the on screen ruler.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/measuring-in-cm

Find 10 different objects in your house.

Order these from smallest to largest.

Next muddle them up and organise them into two piles.

Bigger than 30cms and Smaller than 30cms.

You can note your answers down in your jotter, write them on the P3 Blog or even take a picture and post it on the blog to show everyone your hard work!

Triangles and Squares

Begin by playing this game on level 2. This will help you work out the length of objects by measuring in cms against the on screen ruler. However this level uses  half centimetres too.

Remember half centimetres measure 0.5 cm.

To explain… if an object measures exactly half way between 5cm and 6cm. This object would measure 5.5cm. Click on the link below to play the game.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/measuring-in-cm

Lets see what you remember about conversion.

Remember there are 100cm in 1m.

An example would be …

706 cm = 7m 6cm

848cm = 8m 48cm

Can you convert the following into metres and cm  (Just like the examples above)

  • 200cm
  • 400cm
  • 600cm
  • 50cm
  • 250cm
  • 420cm
  • 570cm
  • 390cm
  • 110cm
  • 150cm
  • 280cm
  • 250cm

Primary 3 – Thursday Home Learning Challenge!

Yesterday we started our Coronavirus memory tasks.

We began to think about how we feel and what we are looking forward to doing when things go back to normal. We then drew a picture of who we are spending our time at home with and a picture of the place where we are living during this strange time.

Today we are going to be continuing this.

Remember the layout of all of these tasks are up to you. You could do it in your jotter, you could make a little book, you can decorate the pages in any way you like.

Task 3

Todays task we are going to look at ourselves.

This could be very important if we want to have a look back in a few weeks, months or even years to see what has changed or what things are still the same. This page is all about YOU!

Think about…

Your favourite things.

Best Friends

What you want to do when you grow up.

Here is an example of how to lay this out 🙂

Task 4

Next we are going to think about all of the fun things you are doing to keep busy during this strange time! You can write a list, draw a mind map, draw little pictures. Again it is totally up to you how you want to lay this out!

Another example of this might be like this…

Primary 3 – Thursday Home Learning Daily 15, Reading and Newsround!

Newsround

Think about…

What is his/her name?

What do they look like?

What does this character do?

What makes this character special?

As an extra challenge I would like you to invent your own character to add to the story.

What would their role be?
