While lots of our class visited the Macmillian Coffee Morning, the rest of us had some fun exploring Kapla! We looked at books for some inspiration and then had a go at creating our own models.

Primary 3 – Lion Art!
Primary 3 were super busy today with Mrs Brankin. They have been creating pictures of lions using different paint colours. The finished art pieces look amazing! Great work!
Primary 3 – Special Treat
This morning St Ninians Primary School had a very special visitor. John Farnworth, a master freestyle footballer, came to visit and show us some of his amazing tricks. He explained to us that practice and perseverance are super important to mastering anything! Primary 3 were so amazed and excited by his skills.
Primary 3 – Exploring Shape!
Primary 3 have been working hard this week exploring both 2D and 3D shape!
As part of our maths lesson we set up 4 different stations in our classroom where children could build shapes using resources such as play dough and cubes, draw and describe shapes. Children then had to discuss why the shapes were different!
At the end of our lesson we had a shape quiz where p3 amazed me with how much they had remembered!

Primary 3 – Rainforest Song!
Primary 3 have been watching the latest news and were concerned about in the fires in the Amazon Rainforest. As we are learning about the rainforest at the moment we decided to base our Success Assembly around this.
We have started to learn a song as part of this and will continue to practice next week.

Primary 3 – Shape Outside!
Primary 3 explored 2D shapes outside last week.
We worked in mixed ability groups where we shared what we knew about 2D shapes and discussed special features these shapes have.
Primary 3 played some shape games, before practicing drawing 2D shapes using chalk with their learning partners all before going on a hunt for natural resources to create a 2D shape of their own.
Super team work P3! I think we all learned something new!
Primary 3 – ICT Research!
Today Primary 3 have been using the Active Wild website to research different rainforest animals. We worked with our learning partners to find out 3 interesting facts about an animal of our choice. We then typed these on to a word document in proper sentences using capital letters and full stops.
Great work Primary 3, you know lots about rainforest creatures !

Primary 3 – Play in a Pod
Primary 3 had great fun exploring the items inside the pod this afternoon. We used our imagination and were so creative with what we built. We created slides, cars, shelters, kitchens and even a restaurant! 
Primary 3 – Place Value!
This maths group worked together to complete a number loop game identifying hundreds, tens and ones in different numbers.
Primary 3 – Exploring Food Chains!
Primary 3 have been learning about food chains. This week we have looked at different rainforest animals and discussed what they might eat. We then created our own food chains for jaguars in the rainforest.
After reading our class story book ‘The Great Kapok Tree’ children were excited about the snake, which was a Boa Constrictor. Today we looked at pictures and talked about what the skin of these animals looked like before drawing our own detailed designs.
While the class were working, groups of children were called out to discuss what they felt the boa constrictors food chain would look like.

We then found out that the longest boa constrictor ever was 4 metres long!
We measured out 4 metres to show this, to take a picture we used 3 Primary 3s plus our class bear! We could not believe it was so long!
