The squares group have been using rods to solve numeracy problems. Today the triangles group made patterns with these rods. As we played we realised that each rod has a numerical value. We are very excited about learning to use rods to solve problems in our numeracy lessons later this week.

Today we learned the names of 4 green vegetables. We learned that all green vegetables grow on plants and grow above the ground.

We played a matching game outside and played bingo and pairs indoors to learn the names: courgettes, peas, cabbage and celery.

We enjoyed popping the pea pods and tasting the peas.

We watched 2 short dvds telling us about their journey from farm to our homes.

We are hoping to cook something tasty with green vegetables on Thursday.

We discussed what would make our class a good place to be and a happy place to learn.

We took pictures which we displayed on our classroom wall to remind ourselves of these responsibilities.

Amongst other things we need to be tidy, share and probably most importantly…..smile!

Every Monday we choose a book from our literacy corner and enjoy it in a number of ways. Some children try to read the book to themselves, others find words or phrases they know whilst others try to tell the story through the pictures. Today Luke thoroughly enjoyed finding the hidden duck in every picture. Well done Luke – great observation skills!

Last week we looked at the books we had chosen from Menzieshill library and 2 children enjoyed reading parts of their book aloud to us, whilst another “Fredded” out some words she knew. Well done p2!

We had great fun on Friday playing with our friends and experimenting by ourself with play materials.

We have been practising writing numbers correctly and these rhymes help us remember how to do so!
