Hello everyone, I hope you are all well and being kind and helpful at home.  Grown-ups please remember that completing all learning is in no way compulsory each and every day but trying to do aspects as often as possible will definitely ensure children’s progress in maintained.

4. Writing– Do the ‘Hold A Sentence’ on the bottom of the reading page detailed above in your blue jotter. Please do this on the lined section and look at your ‘reminder of writing skills’ sheet to help. Steps are 1. Grown up reads sentence. 2. Practise saying the sentence aloud a number of times until child remembers it. 3. Grown up models how to write the sentence (can use back pages of blue jotter or spare paper from home) 4. Child writes sentence independently without a visual. Encourage them to keep saying it as they write. 5. Check the writing. What went well, what do they need to remember for next time?

Mathematics –

On Tuesday we began a recap of our time learning from earlier in the school year.  We will continue this today with the tasks below.  If you didn’t get a chance to complete the tasks on Tuesday, it might be easier to do that first instead.

  1. Play the game linked below.  You must set the clocks to different times and there are different levels to work through to suit how confident you feel.  When you hover over the text it will read the questions aloud for you.

2. Complete pg. 21 of your Early Level Maths Record book.

Other task – Science (Day and Night)

Last term we spent time learning about the wonders of the sky.  Use the resources on the BBC Bitesize lesson below (I have also saved it to our class login ‘MyBitesize’ section) to learn more about seasons, day and night and features of the sky.  There are learning videos and linked activities if you wish to do any of them.  There is even a quiz you can do!

P1- Shapes are everywhere!

We have been learning all about 2d shapes. We were shape detectives and went out on a shape hunt, sorted and drew our own shapes, made shape families and our own creative shape pictures. We have been learning the names and properties of lots of different shapes and used the computers to help apply our learning in a new way. Next we will learn a little about shapes which are not flat, but instead have 3 dimensions.

P1- Time to learn about half past

We are enjoying learning all about time. We learned how to tell a half past time and discussed how half is if something is shared in two equal parts. We noticed that 6 is half of 12 using our numicon and adding skills and this is why the 6 is right at the bottom of he clock face. We had a great time making our own watches using our knowledge of the clock and it’s parts.  Continue reading P1- Time to learn about half past
