Some of us decided to spend some time on these alphabet and opposite jigsaw puzzles during our play this week. Well done Matthew and Libby for not giving up and working hard to fit all the pieces together independently!

P1- Batty About Teen Numbers
In numeracy we have been focusing on learning about the family of ‘teen numbers’. These have 2 digits and the first is always a ‘1’. This ‘1’ means it has ‘1 group of ten’ and this is very important to remember. The other digit tells us how many more! For example 15 has 1 group of ten and 5 more. To help with this we took part in a batty number challenge- each bat had a teen number on its tummy and we had to add he correct numicon tiles and pom-poms to show the number in a visual way and check our thinking.
P1 – Kapla sounds task
In one of our independent literacy tasks we have been trying to use the Kapla to represent our sounds! Look at some of these fab examples, can you guess the sounds we were forming?
Fine Motor – Loom Band Jobs
We are working hard on our fine motor skills so as we can do lovely writing. Here we are working together to stretch out the little loom bands onto different items such as sticks, rocks, pine cones and cardboard shapes. We worked in pairs to share resources and to make the most colourful rainbow stick we could in 5 minutes, it was lots of fun!
Counting Teddies
Today, as part of our number learning we learned to play a counting game with the little teddy bears. We had our own 10s frame and had to turn over a number card to find out how many teddy bears we had to count onto our frame. To make it a little more tricky and way more fun, we had to collect each little bear using tweezers!
Some learning together
We are learning to work and play independently, in pairs and small groups. Here we are working on a sounds game, playing numicon bingo, trying some fine motor tasks and getting creative with our loose parts station all in one school day…busy and happy learners!
