P1- Shapes are everywhere!

We have been learning all about 2d shapes. We were shape detectives and went out on a shape hunt, sorted and drew our own shapes, made shape families and our own creative shape pictures. We have been learning the names and properties of lots of different shapes and used the computers to help apply our learning in a new way. Next we will learn a little about shapes which are not flat, but instead have 3 dimensions.

P1- Monsters Love Colour

We combined literacy (rhyme) and art to explore colour mixing using the story Monsters Love Colours. We discovered that from the 3 primary colours we could make many more colours including orange, green and purple.

We also discovered that mixing black and white together makes grey. The more white we added made the grey colour created get lighter and lighter! But more black made it darker in shade.

Messy fun, cooperation and lots of learning!

Primary 1- Our First Success Assembly as a Class

We were so proud and pleased with ourselves following our first performance on the stage as a P1 class at the success assembly where each class in the school shares their learning with the wider school community.

We sang 3 songs to showcase a little of our learning across the curriculum. We started with our โ€˜When I Know My Soundsโ€™ song which we sing everyday in class to remember why learning our sounds is so important and the steps we need to take to be successful in learning these. Next we performed โ€˜I Can Sing A Rainbowโ€™ in both english and french to show a little bit of our french learning his term with the help of Miss Douglas and her friend Amelie. Lastly we sang โ€˜Thank You Godโ€™ to celebrate all of the wonderful gifts we have to share with the world. We really hope you enjoyed our performance! ๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŒˆ๐ŸŒ
