In the Green literacy group we have been trying hard to put our own sentence ideas into writing, remembering to use our core writing skills. It is tricky to remember a capital letter, a full stop, to use the correct sounds, to put the words in the correct order, to use finger spaces, put the writing on the line and use best writing 🤔
P1- Getting fit!
This term we will be learning more about our bodies and keeping  fit and healthy.  This week we learned a little about keeping fit through exercise in a fun fitness circuit in the gym hall. We worked in small groups to travel around stations with different activities using a range of movements and skills. It’s was tiring but we loved it and can’t wait to see if we get fitter over the coming sessions.
P1- The Moon 🌓
As we finish off our learning about the wonder of the sky we have been learning more about the sun, moon and stars. It has been lots of fun and we remember lots of exciting and interesting facts and information. Â Look at us taking part in some moon themed play tasks and working in groups to build our own Kapla rocket ships to head into space with…
P1- Shapes are everywhere!
We have been learning all about 2d shapes. We were shape detectives and went out on a shape hunt, sorted and drew our own shapes, made shape families and our own creative shape pictures. We have been learning the names and properties of lots of different shapes and used the computers to help apply our learning in a new way. Next we will learn a little about shapes which are not flat, but instead have 3 dimensions.
P1- adding to our learning
In our numeracy we have been looking back and remembering the adding strategies and skills we began learning last term and have worked hard to expand these. We have used these skills to solve some problems in groups and pairs and have enjoyed playing lots of different adding games to practise our adding skills. Next we will try to represent and record our thinking, try to solve word problems and independently choose which strategies to use and when.
P1- Welcome back! 2020 is a New Year full of new adventures
We had a fab time getting back to school and sharing all of our holiday adventures and stories with our classmates. As part of thinking about our targets, we decided to make some New Years resolutions to become our social target for the term ahead. Take a look at the ideas we came up with… Continue reading P1- Welcome back! 2020 is a New Year full of new adventures
P1- Christmas Trees Outdoors
We were very busy with Christmas crafts this afternoon. We created some lovely Christmas cards using fine motor skills and creativity to take home to our special grown ups, made some bird feeders to hang outside in our garden to help the birds find food whilst we are away on our Christmas school holidays and lastly worked in pairs or trios to create our own Christmas tree representations using outdoor resources in our environment. Take a look at some of our wonderfully imaginative designs.
We thought about the shape of the tree, how to fit it into our working space, teamwork and sharing. We also included a trunk, a stand, some lights, tinsel, decorations and a star on the top of some of our designs!
P1- Our First Whole School Show
We have had a busy but rewarding week being part of the school Christmas show starring as the stable animals. Look how amazing we look in our costumes…
P1- Day and Night Sky
We are learning about the wonder of the sky and to show our understanding of things we might see in the sky both in the day and the night, we created these lovely oil pastel and paint pictures. We made sure we put each element on the correct side of our artwork and shared things that were similar and different.
P1- Our Class Timetable
As part of our learning about time and how it links to our daily activities, we have a new weekly class calendar to help us know what we are doing, what comes next and how our week looks. We have been trying hard to use it to find information and learn more about the time impacts each part of our day.
