P1 – A New Tale

P1 had a very busy afternoon yesterday. After Hymm practice, we were shocked to see the friendly dragon in our classroom. He had come back to visit and this time he had a new tale!

We had a chat about what happens in the book and just like the three bears, we went for a walk outside. The friendly dragon decided that he needed some fresh air too and joined in with our daily mile.

He thought that P1 walked very nicely in their pairs and set a great example when we met the P6s on our journey.

On our way back to class, the friendly dragon whispered something to Miss Gordon and we were eager to find out what he had said to her. He thought that we might like to pretend to be bears roaming through the forest on a walk, just like in Goldilocks and the Three Bears!

When we got back to class, we read the story and used our hands to show Miss Gordon and the friendly dragon what big, medium and small looks like. Some of the class even pointed out everyday objects that we use that are big, medium and small.

P1 – Literacy Time

We had lots of fun recreating the story of the Gingerbread Man. We were able to tell Miss Gordon what happened at different points of the story and the characters that were involved.

Afterwards, we developed our fine motor skills using scissors, tweezers, play dough and pencil work.

We are excited to find out what tale the friendly dragon will bring next!

P1 – The Friendly Dragon Returns

We were surprised to find that the friendly dragon had returned to P1 on Wednesday, after his visit on Tuesday. This time, he had a letter that looked different to the one the day before.

We spoke to our partners on the carpet and brain stormed who the new letter could be from. Some of the partner pairs thought that the new letter might be from The Gingerbread Man and they were right!

We re-read the story to find out why he had been in the oven and realised that he had been in there to be cooked for dinner. As a reward for helping him, The Gingerbread Man left us some sheets to create our own Gingerbread people and then transfer our designs onto pre-cooked gingerbread. We felt excited and tried our best with our designs.

Then Mrs Burns took small groups into the bay area to decorate. It was fun using icing, sweets and sprinkles on our gingerbread to bring our gingerbread people to life.

We had to keep them safe until we left the classroom at the end of the day. As you can imagine, it was hard work not to take a nibble!

P1 – A Friendly Dragon Visits

We had an unexpected visitor in P1 today, a friendly dragon!

He travelled through a magical door that appeared in our classroom over lunch time and he said left a letter and a golden box. He asked us to help rescue Fairyland by reading fairytales and believing. We thought it was funny that he burnt the letter whilst he was smiling!

We quickly said yes and began helping the friendly dragon by reading the book that he had left behind, ‘The Gingerbread Man’. Some of the class knew the words and could join in when Miss Gordon was reading.

Using our new skills, we were able to cut up and glue some pictures and put them in the order that they happened in the story.

We are super excited to see what the friendly dragon leaves next!

P1 – Buddy Time

We love our time outside with our buddies using the loose parts to play! We love being able to create and build things from our imaginations.

We worked so well with our buddies and even managed to build a house, bus, hovercraft etc.

Afterwards, some of our buddies played a catching game with us and we got to practice our ball skills.

We had a great day and we can’t wait to play outside with our buddies again!
