The boys and girls look forward to their time in the ICT suite every week, they are becoming very confident with using the computers and their mouse control has developed greatly.

We had a fun time trying to create our own house using the rods but it wasn’t easy, we had to follow some strict rules! We had to use 5 different colours and our house also had to have 2 windows, 1 door and a chimney. Here are some pictures of the fantastic houses we made!

With the help of our P7 buddies, we made a castle! It had 4 different rooms to entertain our guests and it even had a kitchen to make snacks in. Some of our class decided to stand guard outside to make sure that Miss Gordon and Mrs Paton couldn’t get inside!

During our class literacy time we worked with a learning partner and went outside to complete an A – Z outdoor word hunt!

Each partner pair had a clipboard and walked around the school grounds looking for things that started with each letter of the alphabet. This was lots of fun and we did really well sounding out words to find the initial sound and even writing words that we haven’t written before!

P1 have been busy practicing their blending and developing their fine motor skills through various activities. They love learning new words and trying to rewrite them!

This term we have continued to learn all about addition and we have been learning how to write our own addition number sentences. We are doing very well with this and have been using lots of different fun activities during our numeracy time. Here are some pictures of the partner sums that we have been practicing.

It has been a very busy week in P1!

We were all very surprised when the Story Doctor visited us on Tuesday afternoon. As we have been learning about Scotland, the Story Doctor shared the story of Rashie Coatie (a Scottish version of Cinderella), and also Houlet Bairns. Then we sang some Scottish songs together (Ma hands on masel, and Ye Cannae Shove Yer Granny Aff The Bus). We were great listeners and contributors during the visit.

We loved having her in our class and we were very quick to ask her when she could come back to share more stories with us!

We celebrated our 100th day of Primary One! We had lots of fun at the different activities – we had to try and build something using 100 cubes/blocks, we used cotton buds and paint to make 100 dots on paper and we really enjoyed thinking of what we might look like when we are 100!

During literacy time we discussed what things we would like to have 100 of, some of the class thought it would be great to have 100 cars, 100 friends or 100 dogs!

During our brain break time, we challenged ourselves to complete 100 exercises and we managed it!

To finish off the day, we coloured in a colour coded 100 and also dabbed 100 dots on a large A3 100. Miss Gordon also took our pictures in front of a ‘100 days smarter’ sign to take home. We hope you enjoy it!

We were very excited to find out the winner of the Bookbug Prize, there were lots of cheers when it was announced that One Button Benny was the winner! That was our class favourite too!

P1 have been working hard on developing their teamwork and communication skills. They had lots of fun trying to put together some new class puzzles in small teams. Well done everyone!
