This afternoon we had a walk down to Menzieshill Library to return our books. We love our visits to the library and enjoy picking a book and spending time there. Today some of us read our books to our friends, well done!

This afternoon, Primary 1 spent time with their buddies and played bingo together. The Primary 1’s were great at recognising the numbers and many of them even managed to spot the numbers before their buddies!

Primary 1 had a lot of fun shouting out “Bingo”! Well done to everyone who managed to get a full house.

P1 have been using their knowledge of 2d shapes to help make different pictures. Miss Thompson was impressed with their shape knowledge and how well they could count the shapes they had used.

P1 have been learning about the differences and similarities between the night and day sky.

Miss Gordon asked the class to sort different pictures of what we see in the sky into day and night. There was lots of discussion around the pictures as some of them were a little hard to put into one category.

With the help of the pictures, we made our own day and night art! It was lots of fun and very messy.

P1 have been having fun exploring different 2d and 3D shapes and using them to create pictures of outer space. Each team worked incredibly well together and Miss Gordon was very impressed with our hard work!

We had a fantastic day at Sensation! We had a chance to explore the centre after we took part in our Space Workshop. We got to climb up the giant nose and come down the slide, we played in the medical level that allowed us to take part in different operations, we dressed up as astronauts/scientists and we even made music from light!! The man who did the Space workshop was very impressed with all our fantastic learning about Space, well done everyone!

In literacy this week we have been discussing our favourite books and reading some of them. We designed a book cover for our favourite books and wrote a little blurb, they look fantastic!

This week in gym we have continued with gymnastics and we were learning how to jump in different ways on the floor and on apparatus. We jumped on and off a bench, jumped on the floor and also used a small springboard to jump from, this was great fun and we did really well with our landings!

Today in our topic work we were learning about stars and we looked at some groups of stars that are called constellations. We took some chalk outside and tried to draw some of the constellations, we then pretended to be astronomers and created some of our own!

This week in numeracy we have been learning all about subtraction and using different resources to help us. We used numicon to create our calculations and counters to take away, playdough for playdough smash and our pegs to work out how many are left. We then practiced writing a subtraction number sentence. We did really well!
