Gymnastics

This week in gym we have continued with gymnastics and we were learning how to jump in different ways on the floor and on apparatus. We jumped on and off a bench, jumped on the floor and also used a small springboard to jump from, this was great fun and we did really well with our landings!

Working hard during Numeracy

This week we have been very busy in our numeracy lessons. We have been continuing to develop our accuracy with addition and recording our findings using number sentences.  We have also been introduced to subtraction and we have been working with our learning partners using Numicon and the spinners to take away from 5 and 10.

Outdoor Literacy

During our class literacy time we worked with our learning partner and went outside to complete a word hunt! We had clipboards and walked around the school grounds looking for things that started with each letter of the alphabet. This was lots of fun and we did really well sounding out words and even writing words that we haven’t written before, well done!

Fit Thursday Fun!

We really enjoyed our day of fitness on Thursday and here we are doing some of the activities – Botcha, Boxercise, dancing and tennis. We used balloons to play tennis and really enjoyed it! We all worked so hard and tried every activity, well done Primary 1!

Gymnastics

This term we are learning how to develop gymnastic skills during our gym time and this week we were learning how to travel and move our bodies in different ways on the floor and on apparatus. Here we are practising pencil rolls, forward rolls and rolling into a tuck position.

On the Moon!

Today we read a story called ‘On the Moon’ as part of our topic work learning all about Space. We had to think of what it would be like on the Moon and the boys and girls had some fantastic ideas! We chatted about what an astronaut would need to take on a trip to the Moon and we tried to imagine what walking on the Moon feels like by wearing sponges on the bottom of our shoes! This was very funny!  We made some moon rocks using tinfoil and we are going to make some Moon sand next!

Make a word!

During our class literacy time yesterday, we enjoyed working with each other to apply our knowledge of word building and make different words.  We each wore a vest with a sound on it and Mrs Paton called out two words at a time and we had to work together to build that word with our sounds, it was lots of fun!
