The weather has been so lovely we have been going outside for gym and taking part in races in preparation for our sports day. We love the sack race and did really well! We hope the weather is as nice at sports day!

Since it was such a lovely afternoon, we stopped off at the park on the way back from the Sheltered Housing. We had lots of fun!

Today was our last visit to the Sheltered Housing. We made thank you cards this morning to say thank you for letting us visit and spending time with us when we are there. We took the cards and some lovely biscuits and chocolates and handed them out before we left. We have really loved our visits there!

We have been working on logging onto the school computer system with our own username and password. We managed really well today and once we had logged on we were able to open the Internet page and search for minibeasts then we played a game where we had to build our own minibeast, lots of fun!

This afternoon we had a walk down to Menzieshill Library to swap our books. We love our visits to the library and enjoy picking a book and spending time there. Today some of us read our books to our friends, well done!

We are learning all about plants this term and we are growing some bean seeds in little greenhouses which are stuck onto the window, it is very exciting when we come in every morning and see how much they have grown!

We are also carrying out an experiment to find out what happens to a seed when it doesn’t have water, soil , light or air – so far the seed with all 4 things is growing the most!

We love our time outside using the loose parts to play! We love creating and building our own things and we have been working so well together to solve a problem or think of a way to make our ideas more fantastic!

We have been continuing learning all about story elements and we worked with our co-operative groups to create a story setting map and used the peg puppets to retell the story! We worked so hard and really enjoyed using the puppets to tell the story to our group.

We then created our own flip books to show the beginning, middle and end of the story. Great work Primary 1!

This morning and this afternoon we had another visit from the nursery boys and girls that are starting Primary 1 in August. This week we worked on different literacy activities and we had lots of fun, we all really liked the puppets and putting on shows for each other.

Jessica took part in a karate competition at the weekend and did fantastically well! She won her competition and here she is with her medal. What a fantastic achievement Jessica! Well done!!
