Literacy

This week in literacy we are concentrating on blending and practising all of the sounds we have already learned. Here we are doing some bouncy blending today! We jump into each hoop and say the sound then when we jump out of the last hoop we say the word.

A Giant in our Classroom

This week we are focusing on Jack and the Beanstalk as part of this term’s Once Upon a Time topic.  When we arrived back in our classroom this morning we were surprised and excited to see giant footprints! The giant from Jack and the Beanstalk had left us a giant letter! We had measuring jobs to do for the giant and here are some pictures of us looking for things that are longer and shorter than his footprint.  He also set us a challenge to find something the same size as his footprint and we found a drain in the playground that matched! This was lots of fun!

Numeracy

This week in numeracy we have been busy!

We continued with learning about size and comparing different sizes of objects, we were then able to match the correct size item to each of the three teddy bears. We also developed our scissor skills with this activity.

We have also started focusing on a different number each day we have a numeracy lesson, so far we have looked at number 1 and 2. We also had time to fit in some Numicon bingo and a game where we roll the dice, build a tower of cubes to match the number on our dice and then place our tower beside the correct number on giant playing cards and Numicon! This was great fun!

Teddy Bears’ Picnic

Our topic this term is Once Upon a Time and the next traditional tale we are focusing on is Goldilocks and the Three Bears.  To celebrate the end of our first full week in school we had a picnic with our teddies, this was a lot of fun and we were delighted when Mrs Paton surprised us after lunch with all of our teddies sitting at the picnic waiting for us!

Literacy

This week in literacy we have been writing our sounds in shaving foam, this has been fun and we are doing so well with learning all of our new sounds.

We have also been using our magnetic boards and letters to make words and we are doing really well!
