Fantastic first two week🤗
The nursery children have had a fantastic first two weeks back at nursery. They were so excited to see their friends again. Some of the children shared stories of their holidays, spending time with families, and what special gifts they received from Santa.
There has been lots of learning happening indoors and outdoors, whatever the weather. We look forward to this coming term🤗
Christmas town visits🌲🌲
This week all of our Nursery children will be visiting the town centre. They were extremely excited at the prospect of seeing the huge Christmas tree in the city square and going to a coffee shop for a yummy hot chocolate. There was also a sneaky wee ride on the carousel in the city square. Fabulous fun! 🌲🌲❄️❄️
Remembrance Day
In Nursery the children have been learning about Remembrance Day and the significance of the poppy. The children created their own interpretation of the poppy when exploring the art/craft materials, they watched a short film about the poppy and they participated in a 2 minute silence. The children were very respectful and we were so proud of them. 😊
The Benefits of mud play🤗

Splashing in the puddles.
- Today we spent time in the nursery garden. The rain was pouring down and it was really windy, but that did not stop our learning and fun! In fact it was fabulous. We scooped up mud to place in different tubs and pots, we made patterns in the mud with our wellies and we splashed in the huge puddles. As adults we often complain about the rain, but to a child, rain and mud means learning opportunities, mess, and best of all fun with our friends💦💦🌧🌧 (photo’s to follow).
Autumn Party Fun! 😀
On Thursday 31st November the whole Nursery participated in a whole day of fun.😈
There was a range of messy play opportunities such as carving pumpkins and squishing the insides, and pumpkin slime to investigate. It was described as “squishy, yukky and it feels like cotton wool” by the children. 😱
We listened to spooky stories, sang ghost songs, and watched Room on the Broom on the whiteboard. We enjoyed a spooky snack and danced the monster mash in the gym hall. What a fabulous day🤗
Mud Fun in the 2’s
We had a busy day in our mud kitchen: we were using our imagination, role playing, developing language, building relationships, developing our emergent literacy and numeracy skills and of course we were having lots of fun in the mud!!!!
ICT in the 2’s
ICT allows children to learn and develop new skills and knowledge. The use of ICT encourages problem-solving, develops language and communication, builds relationships between adults and peers, encourages self-awareness and develops confidence and so much more. In the 2’s room we have been exploring ICT through the use of the whiteboard to play puzzles and by using the Ipad to take pictures. We had lots of fun trying to match the pictures on the puzzle, it was very tricky and some of us required a little support and guidance on how to manoeuvre our pictures over to the correct spot. Outside in the garden we enjoyed taking turns to use the Ipad to take photographs of our friends at play, some of us even figured out how to take a good selfie!!!
Maps, mermaids and much more. 🤗
This activity encouraged lots of discussion and wonderful language. Pirate ships and secret maps were drawn. We just need to find the treasure now! I wonder where it can be? There are fabulous mermaids under the sea, with princesses dancing in the waves. Football players winning the cup and a fast car driver, driving up a mountain were also evident.
A roll of old wallpaper and some pens and pencils, was all that was needed to spark the children’s creativity and imagination. 🤗
