I hope you have all had a lovely day in the sunshine. I have another idea to keep you busy at home. Why don’t you start a ‘wish jar?’ Because we have to stay at home to keep safe at the moment, there are lots of things we usually do that we might be missing out on. For example, visiting family/friends, going on holiday, visiting places, eating out, etc.
Every time that you think of something you would like to do, get a grown up to help you write your “wish” on a post-it and pop them into a jar or a tub. Once this troublesome time is over, we can pick a post-it out one at a time and do what it says. This way we have so many lovely things to look forward to once this is all over. 💕☀️🥳🌴🌸🌟🌈🍦⚽️🚂🏕🎉
Lots of love! 😊
Hello everyone!
I hope you’ve managed to enjoy some of the sunshine we’ve been having and maybe even had a wee go at some of the activities that have been posted. At nursery, we love reading stories, so today I have attached a link for the booktrust website that has lots of audio story books that you can listen to at home.
Enjoy! 😊
Messy play is a form of play everyone enjoys in the nursery (even the ladies). I know at home the thought of messy play can be a little bit daunting, and a little bit messy!!! But messy play has so many benefits. Through this form of play children embrace their curiosity, imagination and exploration, building and developing confidence and self-esteem. The sensory side of messy play allows children to develop their senses as they explore how things touch or smell or look. Together you develop communication and language by using descriptive words, talking about the experience together. Mark-making in messy play encourages fine motor skills and early literacy. Anything can be used to mark make, from twigs to toy cars. There are endless amounts of learning and I trust you it is lots of fun.
2 ideas for messy play:
They might be messy but mess can be cleaned the fun and the memories will be precious. Stay safe everyone. Miss you lots.xx
Good morning everyone!
At nursery, we know how much you love learning about spring and what happens to various creatures at this time of year.
I have attracted a spring home learning booklet to give the grown ups some ideas about the kind of things you could be doing at home. You can view it by clicking on the link below.
Hello everyone!
The next time you are out on a walk, make sure you are on the lookout for numbers. There are numbers everywhere! I bet you will be able to spot lots of them!
Here are a few ideas to incorporate number concepts into a walk in the local area:
Look for specific numbers on houses eg. Can you see number 4?
Say hello to three neighbours. Or estimate, then count the people you meet.
Look for two blue cars.
Count cracks in the pavements.
Say numbers on houses.
Make up cards of nature things to look for in your area. Such as three leaves.
Count the cars in each driveway.
Look for bus numbers.
Say the numbers on registration plates. Or look for a special number.
Count windows on the front of houses.
Count the number of stairs on the front porch of each house.
Which house has the most flowers, cars, etc.? Which house has the least?
Which house is the smallest on the street (or between two houses)? Which house is the biggest?
Sing number songs while walking along
15. If you are going to the shops, look out for special deals eg. £1. See if you can count how many objects are in your basket, etc.
One of our Nursery favourites. I remember reading this to some of the nursery boys and girls just before the holidays.
We are missing everyone. Stay safe💜💛
Good morning everyone!
Here is another little idea that you can try at home. The next time you’re going on a walk with your grown up, take a carrier bag with you and see if you can collect some different items, like wild flowers, twigs, pine cones small stones and anything else that you think is interesting.
Take them home and get a grown up to help you to put them into ice cube trays, or just Tupperware dishes. Pop them in the freezer and leave until frozen solid. Once they are frozen, empty them out into a basin and have fun exploring! See if you can guess how long it will take to melt completely. Using warm water and/or salt will speed up the melting process.
Have fun! ☺️
I found another fab scavenger hunt that you can do at home with a grown up. This one is a sensory one, which means you have to use your senses of smell, touch, sight, sound and taste to help you to complete it.
Good luck! ☺️

I hope you’ve managed to enjoy some restful time at home together over the Easter holidays.
I know how much you guys love to play “I spy…” so I have found a Spring Scavenging hunt for you to do next time you are out on a walk. If you are lucky enough to have a garden, you might be able to spot some of these things there too.
Grown ups…. The link is below if you want to print it out, or you can just take a photo on your phone.
