Some of the children have been collecting items from the garden and using them to create pieces of art.

In the garden, some children have been involved in sensory play using foam.

Every week they participate in music time where they dance, sing and play instruments along with the music.

They also have relaxation time together listening to soft music.

At book bug time, they sing rhymes together and share stories with book bug.

As a number of children have shown interest in looking for minibeasts in the garden, we chose the very hungry caterpillar as our first ABC and beyond book. Each week the children have been learning a new word from the story. They learned about the words tiny, cocoon and nibbled.

This week the children took turns to retell parts of the story using puppets.

Some children have been playing the hungry caterpillar board game. They took turns to spin the spinner and move their caterpillar around the board feeding him foods from the story when landing on certain spaces.

Harley built the caterpillar putting the numbers in order from 0-10.

In the water tray, some children have been mixing different ingredients to create their own scents of soap.

Out in the garden, a number of children have been developing their physical skills by using different pieces of equipment to climb over extending and challenging themselves as they go.

   

Danny decided he wanted to make his own slide. He worked with others using construction blocks to create it.

A number of children have shown interest in making their own scents of play dough. They started off using herbs from the garden then tried adding different spices to their play dough to see how it smelled.

A few children have been using the wheelbarrows to transport materials around the garden engaging in role-play. Lyall and Danny were investigating the scales looking at the numbers and how it changed when they added or took away stones.

After learning how to play duck duck goose, Aria organised a game herself asking others if they wanted to play and taking on the role of the adult in organising the game.

A number of children continue to show interest in water and exploring how it travels using different objects.

 

Inside, some children have been developing their fine motor skills threading different objects onto string or pipe cleaners.

A few children used loose parts to create their own pirate ship. They decided it needed a flag so used paint and paper to create their own.

Some children continued to explore the idea of boats in the other garden putting seats on the boat and engaging in role-play together rescuing people who were stuck out at sea.

Josie has been very creative when using play dough and loose parts. She created a monster then changed it into a caterpillar adding on feet. She then designed a rainbow.
