2 Moons The Movie!

The amazing Steve Soave, 81Films, has captured our 2 month long festival in under 8 minutes! Click the image above to view:-)

You will notice Elaine by her absence! This is due to chronic camera shyness, sad but true:-D

PLUS!

In the midst of all the Two Moons events we also had WORLD BOOK DAY! And what a splendid day it was. We were fortunate enough to be joined by Joseph Coelho, Sibéal Pounder, Catherine Doyle and Steven Lenton. Our first event, in the morning, was held in the Whitehall Theatre and in the afternoon we visited Coldside Campus.  Throughout the day over 1,000 pupils shared in the excitement of hearing these talented and entertaining VIPs.

Event Full Days!

Well, where does the time go! It has been a while since our last post but we haven’t been idle:-) Here’s a summary of what’s been happening in the Two Moons Festival. (Thanks again to Steve Soave 81films for the photo montages).

DAVE COUSINS  – wonderful author, wonderful man! Visited Harris, Braeview, Morgan, St John’s, Grove and Craigie!

HIGH TEA @ THE HIGH MILL – we’ve had two more of these and they have been absolutely brilliant! Guests and pupils seemed to have really enjoyed a good chinwag and cake!!

LIFE LINES – Our first Pecha Kucha-style event went down a storm with really diverse presentations from our speakers who all managed to deliver their talks in under 7 minutes. Fast paced and fun!

BOOKS on FILM – Two excellent films, adapted from two excellent books, were enjoyed at the Steps Theatre. Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz had us on the edge of our seats. Life of Pi was visually spectacular and thought provoking.

JOSEPH LAMB – Author of  The God of All Small Boys, a fabulous book set in Dundee during WW1, wowed his audience in Grove Academy:-)

Over the Moon!

Gill Arbuthnott’s Two Moons Festival author sessions ended yesterday with visits to Baldragon Academy and St Paul’s RC Academy

It has been amazing to hear about Gill’s approach to writing non-fiction and very exciting to see extracts from her new book Balloon to Moon before it has even been published! It will be available later this year in time to commemorate the Moon landings.

Thanks again Steve, 81films, for the photo montage:-)

Headline News

The editor of the Courier, Catriona MacInnes, helped budding journalists, from Craigie High, to develop their skills at today’s Discovering Journalism workshop.

The finished articles were terrific as was the input from Catriona and graphic artist Gus Proctor. We know our young people loved every minute of this Two Moons event because they said so!

Amazing Vision!

Pupils from Morgan Academy had a fantastic time with the Dundee Creative Comics team led by Damon Herd.  The workshop was held in the Vision building and was a Two Moons event.

Working hard whilst having fun…you can’t beat it 😀

Thanks to Steve Soave, 81films, for the great montage photo.

The Moon is Still a Balloon!

Pupils from Harris Academy and Craigie High were treated to a sneak preview of Gill Arbuthnott’s new book, Balloon to Moon – due to be in bookshops later this year.

Gill shared information from the book and tips about writing non-fiction. The theme of the book couldn’t fit better with our Two Moons festival, thank you Gill!
