Zaara’s Timeline

In p7/6 we joined p7 in our Build It Scotland co-operative learning team. In my group there is Kyle B, Eugene and Kai. We were using the word Mill – 1000, Cent – 100 and Dec – 10. We had to use a dictionary to find words that are number words and write them down near Mill, Dec and Cent these words come from Latin. Then we got a timeline sheet and had to put the numbers in order that go in the box. At the bottom we had a sentence with a missing box and fill it in. I found it quite hard so I would like to get better understanding of it and do some more of this.

What we did at timeline , we needed to look at the words from the dictionary. We needed to find the word beginning with Dec-10 , Cent-100 , Mill-1000 and more. Next  we had cards of people who lived long time ago. We needed to put the cards in chronological order. It was good when it finished because we worked together. Next time we could work a bit more quicker.

We have been looking at timelines in our Build it Scotland project we had to search for math related words beginning with mill Dec and cent after that we were given question cards and had to find the answers on the internet and record were it was on the timeline it was really intresting and when it gets finished I think it will look really cool 🙂

Thomas’s timeline

In groups of P7 and P7/6. Learnt About millenniums, centuries and decades. Then we made a timeline by filling the decades centuries and millenniums. Next we put in dates from the past into the timeline by writing them on the correct year. Next time we will fill in the rest of the dates and complete our timeline.

Hello and today I am going to you about Dundee Blackness primary school. We were researching about it. The Blackness primary school was built in 1989 on 30th of June. We had to find the decades=10yrs ,centuries=100yrs and mill= 1000yrs. We wrote how many decades and centuries are in a mill. At the end we were able to finish it on time.

Last week we did timelines in our build it Scotland groups. We got different events and the dates they happened and we had to put them in order from when they happened some of the events were. When the Caird hall was built ,when queen Victoria was supposed to walk under the royal arch but never showed up and many more. I think our group got on very well even though we didn’t get finished. To take this work farther I would go research the times and events because I didn’t know most of the events or when they happened.

Lytisha’s timeline

In our co-operative  learning groups with the p7 class we were learning about timelines. First of all we were using the dictionary to look up five different words for each of the numbers in Latin for e.g monocle (mono means one) so we knew different ways of saying numbers. After wards, we  got pieces of paper with different events a we tried to find what the different events year was and put them in the right order on the timeline. I think I did well because we worked together as a team and found really good words.

In class we have done timelines in our co-operative learning groups . We where given a big sheet which had a timeline on it and we got a small sheet witch had events on it and we had to colour the timeline in and wright when we think the events where held. We also had dictionary  and we had to find words with Mill-1000 , Cent- 100 and Dec- 10 example : Millimetre there’s  1000 in a millimetre  . I found this okay but I think I need to know more in timelines .

We looked at timeline in our co-operative learning team with Mr Young’s class. We looked at the dictionary to see the words of Dec- 10, cent- 100, mill- 1000.

There are other words that mean the same in the dictionary. Then we had cards of  historical people that lived long time ago. when they were born and death. I did it because my team helped me. I  will understand better with a partner with me helping me so next time I will encourage people to help me and I will help them to so I can make they understand me.

In p7\6 & p7 we have been doing timelines and finding out dates and when events were and what they were about. We were putting them in order and we had paper cards and a timeline sheet so on the sheet we had to order them in to bits and see what cards matched.
