Today, P6 went to P1 to carry out the Picture Book Awards project. The Primary 6 pupils have worked very hard to develop their story-telling skills, develop activities linked to their stories and design questions to get the P1 pupils to really think about their story books.

We had the chance today to read to small groups of P1s. We set up reading and activity stations for our four stories – “Love Monster and the Perfect Present”, “The Snuggle Sandwich”, “My Busy Being Bella Day” and “Oh Dear, Geoffrey”. We really enjoyed carrying out our roles within our team, and we feel the P1s enjoyed the chance to hear our stories.

At the end of the session, we carried out a vote to see which book was most popular. Each P1 chose their favourite book from the 4 books, and the winning book was “Love Monster and the Perfect Present”. Well done to all the teams for working so hard on their book presentations and the P1s for taking part so enthusiastically in the project!
