Wedding bells!!

As most of you know Miss Dewar got married last weekend. Her married name is Mrs Thomson. Also some of our  nursery children’s parents got married too. As we were talking about weddings ,we set up a church in the imagnative area. The children had the opportunity to role play by dress up as brides, grooms, ministers, wedding guests and flower girls. At the art area we made  brides and grooms, wedding guests, flower bouquets and stained glass windows. We read stories about weddings and listen to wedding music.

Cathy’s Songs

On a Monday and Friday the nursery boys and girls are learning lots of new songs and actions. This will be continuing for the next few week.

There are many benefits and rewards for children from taking part in musical activities.  It can cross over many areas of Curriculum for Excellence experiences and outcomes.

Parents you may be interested to learn of the many different areas of your child’s development that music can effect:

Fun on the climbing frame

The nursery boys and girls have had a great time this week, enjoying using the new play equipment. Before they used the climbing frame we talked about how to be safe on it. They boys and girls can climb up using the ladder, rope climb or climbing wall and must come down using either the slide/chute (sitting down only) or the pole.

The boys and girls have also been busy helping Miss Percival plant lots of Spring bulbs in the plant pots around the garden. They had to fill the containers with soil, make a hole, put in the bulb, cover it with soil and water the pot. I’m sure the playground will be in full bloom come Springtime.

The climbing frame and new soft surface

Our new climbing frame is now complete. It has a climbing wall, a ramp with a rope to climb up, a green slide, a steering wheel and a ladder.

There is red and white tape all around the climbing frame at the moment. The nursery boys and girls can not use it until the rough edges have been sanded. This will hopefully be done over the weekend.  It looks great and I hope we can use it soon.

On Tuesday 3 new workmen came to lay the new squishy surface to go around all the play equipment.

Our Nursery Playground

There has been a lot of building work going on in our nursery playground this week. Many thanks must go out to our very generous nursery families who have raised £1979.00 through a sponsored walk where the nursery boys and girls had to walk up the Law and back (not so easy with little legs!!). We are also extremely grateful to have received a grant of £10,000 from Awards for All, we now have the first stage of a lovely new playground, with the building of a new climbing frame. The work will continue over the next few weeks with addition of a soft surface on the ground around the climbing frame and the painting of a new road for the boys and girls to use whilst riding the nursery bikes, scooters etc .

What our new playground will look like when completed.

The boys and girls could not wait to visit the “building site” each day at group time to see how the builders were getting on . Before we went outside we talked about how to stay safe and how to cross the playground holding a friends hand.  We also talked about how important it is to hold our parent’s, grandparent’s, childminder’s etc hand when  we are coming to and from nursery each day.

The boys and girls were very excited to see the start of the new climbing frame.

During our group time we talked about what we liked about the nursery playground and talked about what was happening each day with the builders. We made mind maps all about our ideas.

Welcome to Law Nursery’s new blog

What is a blog?

Blogs have been around for about 10 years. The

word stands for ’web log’ and they’re effectively online diaries. A blog

is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a

blog is “blogging” and someone who keeps a blog is a “blogger.” Blogs are

typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no

technical background to update and maintain the blog. Postings on a blog are

almost always arranged in chronological order with the most recent additions

featured most prominently.
