The children and staff of the Beehive walked down to see their old school one last time before it was demolished completely. We were able to look inside the school and discuss what rooms we could see. Some of us were sad to see the school being knocked down as we had lots of good memories of being there. However, we are really enjoying being in our new building at Ballumbie too.
The Enormous Turnip!
The Green Literacy Group have been reading a book which has both Polish and English text. The book is The Enormous Turnip and on Burn’s Day, the group tried some turnip for themselves! Piotr, Grzegorz and Blaine liked it while Josh and Nathan weren’t so keen!
The Beehive Scottish food tasting afternoon.
On January 25th as part of the first Ballumbie Primary Scottish open day the Beehive held a scottish food tasing afternoon- Yum!!
We tried neeps, tatties, veggie and meat haggis, oatcakes, shortbread and pancakes. Unfortunately Mrs Heffell forgot the Irn Bru!
As well as simply tasting we also completed evaluation sheets drawing the foods and rating how much we enjoyed it. Veggie haggis was much more popular than the meet one but we all loved the Scottish shortbread the most.
Shape
Some children in the Beehive have been exploring shape as part of their maths work. Here is Saul guessing what shape he has by feeling its sides and corners. Also, here is James, who has made a shape poster with some very impressive shapes including a trapezium and a parallelogram!
We enjoy working co-operatively in the Beehive!
In the Beehive we enjoy working together on lots of different tasks. We have to share ideas and resources, listen to everyones ideas and make sure everyone participates.

Christmas Crafts Afternoon
On Monday 10th December, the pupils welcomed in their parents and carers to help make crafts for the Christmas Fayre. It was a well attended and enjoyable afternoon, thank you very much for your help!
Christmas Post
The children in the Enhanced Provision have been learning about Post Offices. With Christmas fast approaching, the children have organised the school’s Christmas Post, making posters and visiting classes to advertise their service. They are emptying the post box each day, sorting the cards in the sorting office and delivering the mail to all of the classes! Remember to put the name and class on the front of the envelope before posting! 
Yoshi the Tortoise!
This week, the Beehive were visited by Yoshi the tortoise! The children enjoyed finding out lots of tortoise facts as well as touching his shell! Yoshi went home looking extra fancy after the children painted his shell multi-coloured! Thanks to Christian for letting us meet his lovely pet! 
Pudsey comes for a visit
We were all very excited when Pudsey came to visit on Children in Need day!
We made masks, wore our funny hats and learned the new Pudsey bear song, ‘Jump up and Dance’.
